Well, how's this for a reason to use a mac? I was hired at my current job partly because I knew macs. Unfortunately, the Macs work so I spend most of my time fixing all the PCs at the sites I work at. Another company I work for part time has …

We have the same problem on an OS 9 machine now. I heard something about a conflict with the SCSI card but don't really know.

OS X supports SCSI now doesn't it? Our G4 was ordered with a SCSI card. OS X works just fine on our old G3 with a Serial keyboard, etc. Also, doesn't the X Serve have both? I would think this means it supports them quite well.

Here is a thought though. I was planning to upgrade many of the computers at our business to OS X. I also just recently started working on that by buying the full version of OS X about TWO WEEKS AGO! I'm also looking at multiple computer purchase…

Ok, I read through again and have more to add. Does your file name have any unusual characters or is it a long file name? I've gotten errors trying to do things with () and other characters before. I don't think a Zip would do it but you can't mo…

Wasn't the whole idea behind previewing the next OS X update to allow developers time to implement the new features. Why would Apple release a new technology and not puch developers to use it as was suggested above? If Apple truely wants Extre…

Wait, Apple comes up with a technology that some of its computers can use now. Unfortunatly it is so cutting edge that not all of equipment can handle it. Would you rather they wait a year to release it? This is the same thing as them rele…

Also, with as quiet of a secret as this all is do you really think the people writing the tags know for sure what will be announced? I would be willing to bet that they were told that there will be something huge that has never been done before. …

I've found major errors on every file system we've ever used on every operating system we've had. Errors happen. The best we can hope for is that Apple can make OS X prevent the errors more often.

Two buttons should work and the scroll wheel. I don't see why they didn't make more buttons an option when they built the OS, seems like all it would take is a pref. panel to set what the buttons do. I still want to be able to set one of the but…

Why waste time with tabs? Just make it so that any folders in the dock pop up when something is dragged over them. It does the same things without adding tabs to the top of the dock. At the same time it allows you to right click on them to pull u…

First, I'm not saying this is a good thing for VPC. However, do you really think MS wanted VPC? They wanted the code, programers, and maybe any pattents that will make it easy to have multiple versions of Windows running on Windows. How about a…

I believe what someone was hinting at for a name would be "Essay". The biggest thing I need is someone to announce Exchange support for OS X!

Ah, but depending on your point of view they aren't free. You have to pay $130 for the OS, then the programs are free. I don't understand why they aren't both included rather than one having to go download. I plan to purchase anyway eventuall…

It is slow but it is usable. I've haven't found it to be THAT bad and I'm only running a PB 500 with 320MB of ram. I'm sure a G4 would help and I'd really like to get the faster laptop drives because the program tends to rely on your HD quite a …

I used Visual Basic under VPC 3 all the time and never had a problem. Was great for my class, I'd grab my laptop and go to friends houses to work on the programs. VPC under X does seem pretty slow at the moment but under 9 it isn't too bad. I…

Mine does the same thing every so often. The other thing I see seems to be with the finder. If I click on the scroll bar sometime it moves the title bar to the location I clicked. Oh well, maybe someone has a solution.

Osakans, The real question hasn't been asked much or answered. What exactly will you do with the machine? What other equipment do you have that you might want to use with it? Do you have, or are you thinking about getting, a digital camera or …

I was concerned about including the CLI at first too. Since then, I've found I never have to use it for anything I don't want to. I've been able to use my personal laptop for more things at work because of Unix can the CLI. I had to learn perl …
