It certainly seems inevitable that this will arrive at some point. And I hadn't been paying enough attention to Samsung to realize they have shipped one. But it seems weird to ship it now, when not even an $8k Hasselblad medium-format camera will …

The video certainly demonstrates that it is feasible for a USB-C cable to power an M4 Mac mini. Feasible is doing an awful lot of work in that sentence. As for using a Mini as a portable, I looked into that, thinking of using a Vision Pro as the d…

Ignoring, of course, that the shut-down delay was only legal if there was a deal to sell in place. And that that authority to delay was for a maximum of 90 days. More examples of the "party of law and order".

A few important questions. The ones that really matter to me: price, of course? >60Hz refresh? HDR? If so, number of dimming zones (wouldn't be hard to beat the XDR here, though matching its brightness would be much more so)? Not sure if I care…

The two things I'd really want from Thunderbolt 5 are a good 8k monitor, and something to allow plugging two 40Gb/s storage devices into one port.

"with the university denied its latest attempt to regain half a billion dollars from the iPhone company." REgain? Apple stole half a billion dollars from them?

Just the ability to do nano texture on a touchscreen is very interesting. I'm drooling a bit, but not upgrading anytime soon.

I’ve had a ProGrade Digital Thunderbolt reader for 2-3 years now. This looks about the same. Does this also need a driver for XQD?

I see several main use cases for the Mac Pro. Running Windows software (whether in Boot Camp or virtualization), scientific computing that needs that 1.5TB of memory or CUDA, or needing scads of IO ports not provided (I have heard of people maxing …

Wonder if it has the same write-cycle limitations as the "traditional".

No VESA, no bueno.

Now if they would just modernize to the point of providing drivers for 10-bit color.

Too bad whoever approved the patent apparently never saw a CamRanger. Gives all the same functionality, although with Canon and Nikon DSLRs. And that's a real product that's been shipping for about a year. And has an iOS app.
