BTW, here's a link to a fixed file (made the minimize lines smaller and fixed a few bugs when changing the pixel depth of the title bar).

I've learned alot about the "engine" that draws the GUI in Windows and it's actually pretty retarded compared to how the MacOS does things (I did a few themes for Kaleidoscope a few years ago and it was much easier). For example, the application …

I'll take that into consideration for the update I plan for it soon

Sony computers suck. Trust me, I work on computers 6 days a week. While Sony's other products kick ass, their computers are expensive and simply not reliable over the long term.

I have a TiBook (G4 500) with 512MB of RAM and OS X gets slow when trying to do more than one thing at a time, especially during DVD playback.

Boy, what a boring forum to not display images. Anyhow, one CANNOT capture from the DVD viewer. It won't let you. However, it was to illustrate that the other windows and even the Dock don't behave properly when the DVD player is active. …

I much prefer OS 9 at this point. Heck, even the DVD software won't play nice in X:

The ONLY reason you have Windows on those 1000 machines is because you have NO choice. Linux is too splintered to be any threat. But, OS X for x86 would be a threat. Pushed by a company that takes in $5 billion a year. And, it would seem to me…

That's sort of what I'm shooting at. Either come back with x86 Mac clones, or, sell and license OS X for Intel. There's too much pie out there not to take a slice.

[quote]Originally posted by cpm: Windows XP home edition is $200. Having looked at some somewhat recent Apple filings (1Q 2001) though, their CPU unit sales are 751,000 with a total gross margin of $385 million. That's about $512 per machine. …

Have you seen the mess that it takes to cool the G4? Puhleeze. Look at some photos of the high end G4 machines. It's a mess. In fact, even in the slot loading iMacs, the entire middle of the machine is a big heatsink made of aluminum. I never …

How much does Apple make on the bulk of its machines? Given that iMacs constitute anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of Apple's annual unit sales, I would fathom around $200-$250, based on my knowledge of the industry. Now, how much money would Apple make …

The "personal" computer will always be the hub of a digital lifestyle. What will change is that "personal" computer will really soon be "personal" in that it will be smaller, portable, and more powerful.

Either way would be cool. I know lots of people who want to use OS X but don't want to buy a Mac because they like to build their own machines. Maybe a PPC port of XP?

Actually, cowerd, the idea was to see if a TiBook could be a desktop replacement, and, it certainly is. When benchmarking those programs I benchmarked, HD speed is irrelevant due to the amount of RAM in all the systems.

And, columns: If you're talking about NeXTSTEP column views, I find that hideously inferior.

That's all bullshit. XP not only handles large files better, but, is faster than prior versions of Windows.
