First prediction, then. All future MacBooks, and Apple keyboards, mice, and touchpads will come with fingerprint readers, to both tap in to ApplePay and to allow secure login, particularly to shared machines.

Even though my iPhone "lives" on my hip, I wear a watch because all I need to do these the time is lift my arm. Now, imagine that I could just touch my watch (to validate a transaction) and then wave it at a sensor. Is there any easier way to make a…

No! This is the mistake MS made with Windows 8. The mouse or touchpad-driven interface that is so powerful for a vertical monitor is vastly inefficient for a horizontal, touch-driven hand-held device, and vice-versa.

Agree. And if iPhone 5 contains NFC, On the 12th Cook will bring onstage one or more CEOs from major national retailers (Target? BestBuy? Staples?....) and announce that by the 21st their check-out stations will have the readers and back end to supp…

Mgr supplies all items with an RFID tag. The exit reader grabs the data and compares it with the shopper"s scan-record, and offers to adjust the shopper's record to match the list of product tags. Done.

But seriously... Isn't this thing, particularly with keyboard attached, just an expensive notebook? With stand, it looks like any thin laptop.

Sony's an interesting counter-example. Technically, they produce solid, useful products. I have one of their (many) "Sleep Machine" clock radios. My wife can't work it, and she's both well-educated and smart. I can, but I'm a techie of many years'…

A way to bypass NFC? Once again, Apple disrupts a technology.

As long as the gap between the inside dimension of the slot end and the outside dimension of the micro-sim is minimal a trayless sim slot is no more likely to be a lint-collector than the gap between the current on/off button and its surrounding c…

Re: Drobforever: Actually, it would be a major improvement from LG, at least. We've a year-old LG HD set, an LG BluRay player, and an HD DirecTV box. I can neither fully control the BluRay from the LG TV controller nor the TV from the BluRay con…

I don't understand the incredulity or the hostility to this rumor. All of the negative responses to the form-factor are reasonable IF the device is designed simply as a mini-iPad. But I don't believe that will be its intent. A friend gave my wife a…
