Panther's official delivery time is "before the end of the year." Jaguar last year was "before the end of Summer." Jaguar shipped in August. Also, Panther is in about the same state or less complete than Jaguar was at its similar WWDC preview…

Didn't the story go that if you underclocked a G5 down to 1-1.2 GHz, the wattage output was no higher than a G4 7455? If true, that could suit a PowerBook update perfectly! However, I agree with you there will be no PowerBook G5 for a year.

Yeah, very nice, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of fans around here! But practically, how many people need this capacity in a desktop right at the moment - a terabyte of storage and the ability to burn two DVDs at once? It would push the cost u…

Yes, M$ just doesn't get usability, and the "blinking clock" analogy is an excellent one to describe the shortcomings of technology interfaces. Quartz Extreme ripoff movies aside, I thought the thread that mentioned the following link was a FAR m…

I guess it'll have to be a brute force method then: output the full-screen movie to video then capture and encode. Maybe as a DivX... just to piss 'em off.

I can't really understand why Apple has gone to extra trouble to secure its streams. Surely it's in their interest to get the keynotes shown as widely as possible? The very reason I want this one is to burn to a CD to mail to a friend who does…

Bump. Any method of downloading the WWDC 2003 keynote around?

Going by today's exchange rate (and it'll probably rise to 0.70 by the time these things ship, making them even less), a parity price would be: 2999 / 0.6647 * 1.1 = $4963 inc GST. Would a pricepoint of $4,999 have killed them? The psycho…

Specific predictions: 1. Developer Preview of Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, many new state of the art OS features, complete system overhaul fully optimized for 64-bit, revised interface, take the preview home today "to start writing great 64-bit apps",…

Just as long as your girlfriend has the matching size docking station. (This made more sense in the era of the PowerBook Duo - when they brought out the color screen Duo, the Dock lid needed an upgrade. Otherwise it was very painful for the Dock.)…

Similar things could have been said about a $400-500 MP3 player! Personally I would have felt the Tablet market would have been more enticing for Apple than the Server market: for Servers, customers only care about the reliability and replaceabi…

Hence the wish for Apple to get into the game... I bet Jonnie Ive could design a beautiful looking slate. I didn't think the Motion Computing one looks too bad though: it's not much different to a 12" Alu-PowerBook screen detached from the lapto…
