Yeah, but by 2006, Apple will be even more behind than they are now. Better get ahead of Intel now.

7.20 gigahertz !?   Apple better run off some Quad-970s pretty goddamn fast! Power5 seems like a good move to me!

I agree with you. Apple should go back to what it used to do: make expensive computers that were above the performance of anything else on the market. Apple could earn great respect in the server arena if it coupled the Power5 chip with its awesome,…

WIth that whole "Fab Four" poster thing, I am beginning to doubt that the new Powerbook 15.4" will be introduced on Tuesday. It seems more logical that it be realeased in March. As for the iPod: tomorrow, on Tuesday. Maybe Apple will have a promo th…

The Powermacs would be nice with front mounted ports. They have already moved one port to the front(the headphone jack), so why not at least one USB and one Firewire? That would make transfering songs from the iPod, etc. a lot more convenient. I mea…

I think that all of this points to the new powerbook 15". Or maybe an addition to the iPod family, although I highly doubt it. The coolest iPod update that I can imagine will happen is a backlit scroll wheel. Wouldn't that be cool.

Some of us aren't retards...that doesn't include you, Eugene, does it?

Well, why don't we put our 970 fantasies in the "current hardware" section? Boy, would that get people confused... [ 02-16-2003: Message edited by: os10geek ]

Of course, thats not what the third post of this thread says, JLL. Nope. Everyone knows that 5.0.1 is never to be confused with 5.0.1.

Sorry, Eugene and ast3r3x, but I am not seeing a "future software" section on this site, and posting speculatory tidbits on quarkinsider.com is impossible because there is no such webpage in existance. Maybe you two can find a technical loophole, bu…

Yo, dis thread is kinda dead, homey-Gs. Unless we want to turn it into a Quark 6 Speculation thread, but think that has happened already.

Site's back up. It is Quark 5.0.1. Sorry for the false alarm. Still no mac os x compatibility. Not that I use it. Man, did Jobs diss them at the expo. "There are still a couple laggard apps that haven't made the jump to mac os x, and we all know …

I wonder if Powerlogix, Sonnet, etc. will be making a 970 upgrade chip for G4's, like they make G4 upgrade chips for G3's. Then the dream of a 970 cube might be possible. Possibly, but maybe not without fans.

OS X just got updated, man! I mean, yeah, small update, but updated all the same. As for Shake...That hasn't been updated for like, a year.

I'm a workin' soul, my friend.

Hey, Macsrgood4u...Macwhispers is kinda contradictory. On the link you saw, it says definite no-no for lifestyle device. But on

The short of it: I think their getting the updates over with so that they can focus on releasing the 970. That would be a logical move, and it seems to be the one that they are making. The full of it: It is hard not to notice the flurry of A…

So as the technology gets more advanced, the original standard wil advance with it. Right? Anyway, what makes Toslink / Fibre-Channel faster than traditional copper? Is it that there is less interference with optical than there is with electric?

I don't get the whole thing with FW 800 being able to scale up to FW 3200 on the future. Will you have to have a new card in your computer to have 3200 when it comes out? What will you have to change in your machine?
