Face it, guys... Apple will never switch to intel, at least while Jobs is in, because part of the reason that OS X is so stable is because computers, for the most part, are more vulnerable to crashing at higher clock speeds. That is why all the ren…

I think the iMac's display should be removable, so you can use it as a tablet. Then you would have the iMac's base crunching data for the display.

The iMac is being marketed as an appliance, I guess you could say. Computers are becoming more and more intefrated into the lifestyle, and the iMac is designed to get the job done.

The 17" is something Apple likes to call a Cinema display: a display that is has a lower net resolution to diagonal length ratio. They do that to save money, and have a screen that looks different. I love it, though. And please don't have a fi…

You can skin Windows XP to look like OS X, you know. Many PC users lust for OS X, so they do that. The difference: they crash every 2.5 seconds.

That computer for the rest of us you speak of is a Dell.

If Apple were to introduce a 20 inch iMac, the base would have to be much bigger, to balance the hulking weight of the 20" LCD. If they did, they would need something to put in the base (other than lead ) to balance the display. Dual processors/…

The whole 20" iMac fantay is completely unbased and ridiculous. Why would anyone use a 20" screen? For Photoshop and Finalcut. Who would use an iMac for pro video and heavy image editing? Nobody.

Apple's strategy makes perfect sense. When people pay tons of hard earned cash on a powermac, they want the machine to age well, and that is where expandability comes in. The consumer line, on the other hand, makes more sense, at the consumer prices…

I dont think that Moto will be the supplier of the next chip. IBM is a more dependable solution, a company focused on making servers and kicking Kasparov's butt. Moto, on the other hand, makes integrated solutions that go into VCRs and DVD players. …

The PPC 970 will satisfy all Mac users: that can afford it

And then they can say something along the lines of "Powered by technology that whipped Kasparov's little ass in 10 moves." That would be good PR.

[quote]Originally posted by Tom West: Just a thought. If Motorola does manage to manufacture a 1.6+ GHz 7457, what are the odds that Apple uses it? If Apple is really clearing the decks for the 970, it would be marketing disaster for them to pu…

Nope...no iPod yet. I think that next Tuesday will most likely be the day for an update...but when is Cebit?
-
Yeah, I think we came to that conclusion with the Belkin offer...something is definitely up. I am hoping for this Tuesday (March 11), though.
-
I do hope that more than capacity changes. Maybe a better screen? And a back lit scroll wheel?
-
That's worthy logic.

Which of the 52 Tuesdays are we talkin'?

A dollar a song !? Buying a CD would be about the same amount! And anyone that thinks that this will survive in a Kazaa/Limewire saturated world is wrong. On the other hand, I could download every song that I ever wanted for 10 bucks in a month…

A 5 gig iPod is more than I would ever need.
