Actually I've been looking for a video conferencing/streaming solution. Here's a list Netmeeting has video conferencing still, but the user directory was moved to msn msgr at some point.

So it's agreed they are included just to look different than a PC? Other than the 2 or 3 times I haul my tower around in it's lifetime, they are a waste of space. The edges look kind of sharp too.

I've had the SBC DSL service you're looking at for a few years. At first it was 768K/128K for $50, then they dropped it to 384/128 for the same price. I recently signed a year contract to get 384/128 for $35 a month. The price is barely tolerable…

MS makes money on office for mac. MS doesn't make money on mac IE. The mac IE agreement was made when IE didn't own the browser market. Now that it does, it's no longer as important to have apple use IE. When office for mac doesn't make th…

I've spent a few months developing something similar in my spare time. I'm aiming for 2 USB webcams tracking 1 hand through arbitrary orientations in about a 1 cubic foot space. These design limitations are just based on availability & cost of…

It's all in the pricepoint and how much you listen to music. Just listening to the top 40 would be better for subscription, since you don't listen to most songs for long periods, and you'd have access to the whole library. People with more specifi…

Technically, the bandwidth isn't widespread enough yet. A min. of 768Kb/s would be need for a stream to approach DVD quality. Doom9 just did a comparison of several MPEG4 codecs and at 700MB for 2hr movies there are still noticeable artifacts. Al…

That ATI tool may use some inside knowledge to do the hardware blending. Nvidia may have something similar, they use their pixel shaders to apply filters to video playback in one of their utilities. Sasami2k did this in software so it was a cpu …

It can't hurt to try. Just get some regular LED for $.75. If the voltage is too high, the color might look muddy and it'll burn out in a few mins/days. Or just measure the voltage drop across the stock one to be sure.
