To me, the writing is on the wall. I just bought a 2009 MacPro (2.66GHz) and plan to spec it out eventually to either a W3565 or maybe do the firmware hack and go for a W3670. A used 2009 MacPro is the sweetspot right now. I got mine for $1650 (+…

I'm not sure what the uproar is about. I worked in post for a long time, and I haven't seen many FCP users in that field. Most pros I knew used Avid or Media 100 and disdainfully considered FCP to be for wedding videos. That may have changed o…

What about this rumor that the next MacPro will have a bespoke CPU? http://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/20/...-time-capsule/

The MacBookAir can easily cover all my basic computing needs. The only reason I'd still want a Pro is for use of virtual instruments on stage, the MBA seems a little under-spec'd for that. But I think it has got just about everything else covered.

Well, if I wanted to tinker with the hardware I would not buy an iMac in the first place, but the Hardmac article also says that it is not that different from replacing the HDD in a 2010 iMac. I reckon if you're inclined to open a brand-new iMac …

There's a few threads on Macrumors were users report successfully replacing 2011 iMacs' HDD's. ChargedPC has a how-to. looks like OWC dropped the ball on this one.
