  • You can use the Apple hardware test CD to check the ram. In addition you might try resetting the motherboard by pressing and holding (5seconds) the cuda button on the motherboard. Its a little red button near the PCI slots.

  • yes, you have to reformat the ipod hard drive to HFS+, the Macintosh file system using the Disk Utility program ( this will wipe out anything on the iPod). Update: just get this software iPod for Mac Software Updater available at apple.com.
