Interesting move by Dell. More importantly, it is GREAT to read Apple is still developing fixes for 10.4.2. I really hope it is true that the .2 release will FINALLY make Tiger behave as it should. The bugs in syncing, .mac, mail, memory leak…

Not a moment too soon. Let's hope this fixes a boat load of the Tiger bugs. 80 bug fixes sounds way too low. I hope that is just the major bugs fixed, and there are a few hundred smaller ones fixed. Tiger is awesome, but the bugs are disgracef…

Is it common for the patched version to be in the retail packages so quickly? If not, maybe Apple is aware how disgracefully buggy the first two version were.

Anyone know if Quartz 2D is turned on or not? I'm assuming not since no one is reporting so. But can anyone confirm this one way or another?

I have spotlight problems too. (and have tried all of the tricks at macosxhints.) I simply think there are still big bugs in Spotlight. Do a google search for an app called Highlight. It helps since it will allow you to force index anything.

It's already out there, from what I hear. Sad since this was given to developers, but I guess this is the modern digital morals. The BIG question is whether or not Apple cares. Of course, publicly they will scream bloody murder. But, it do…

Quote: Originally posted by spyder Well I'd rather get some bug fixes now and the rest later, versus waiting x amount of days/months for them to get it up into the 100's. Agreed; sooner is better. Just given the state of Tiger, I'd really …

Any word if Quartz 2D is working and turned on in this release?

72 bugs fixes? This depresses me. Tiger was not a robust gold master release. I hoped the number of fixed bugs would be in the hundreds--Tiger surely needs it. Hopefully 10.4.3 will FINALLY be the release Apple should of released.

New Coke was mighty tasty.

It's not going to happen, and the proof is in the news cycle this week: 1. Intel pre-announces, e.g. 16-24 months away, a dual core laptop chip. The last time they made a move like this was right before the G5. Apple and IBM have news, but it…

One other thing... As to this rumor that 10.4.2 is "around the corner." Unless something has drastically changed, this is not true. I think Apple is trying to get Tiger actually working for 10.4.2. The .1 release was mostly stuff they had on…

Quote: Originally posted by hugodrax Sticking with 10.3.9 I do not understand the rush into a purchasing a Release Candidate which I believe 10.4.0 is, and 10.4.1 is RC1 10.4.3 should probably be what would really be called Gold. So true. …

God I hope so. If Adobe were truly a partner with Apple, this would of been done by now. I hope Adobe doesn't become the next Quark.

I would wait until AT LEAST 10.4.2, and honestly, given the state of 10.4.0, I would wait until 10.4.3. I am not upgrading my critical Macs until at least 3 rounds of solid and comprehensive bug fixes. Don't get me wrong. Tiger is awesome. But i…

There is absolutely zero doubt that Tiger was shipped to meet a deadline. It's not that the expectation is ever zero bugs. 10.3.9 still has bugs. It's just that Tiger has so many serious issues it's not even funny. This is clearly not Apple qu…

I hate to say it since I love the company, but the bugs in Tiger are disgraceful. It obviously needed at least a couple more months of serious debugging. I used to build software for a living and I know the difference between, "every app has bugs…
