  • Always check the compatibility database at http://www.xlr8yourmac.com before you buy a CD-RW drive! A drive ought to burn from Toast, iTunes and the Finder (on 9 and X) and very importantly be bootable.

  • Get GraphicConverter, run it, quit it, and install the ScanGear plug-in into ~/Library/App Support/GraphicConverter/Plug-Ins/. Relaunch GC and ScanGear should be in File>Acquire. Let me know if this works.
