Quote: The addressable market is ONLY the customers that the carrier currently has? The "official" addressable market should be the entire population of those countries, especially since the latest rumours state quite convincingly that there will b…

The future decline of Flash video is overplayed. Flash video rose to dominance because it's the easiest for social systems: video can be uploaded in various formats and resolutions and easily repurposed; Flash video is easily embedded. Flash provide…

I wouldn't be surprised by an announce/reveal at WWDC (with possibly pre-orders) and shipment following at the end of the month, early July. Apple can postpone and keep some secrecy with the FCC, but ultimately the FCC is going to release its certif…

That was stupid of me. 500 million 4Gb units is still 250 million GBs. Divide that by 40 million devices, and you get about 6.25 GB per device which seems feasible.

Oops, yeah... Thanks for the correction. But, at the same time... Aren't 4-8 GB iPods already using 2+ GB chips, not 8 or more .5 GB chips... why would they be using .5 GB chips when they are using 2+ GB chips now? Either there is a typo of so…

Even if you figure half of all iPods have 4 GB and the other half have 2x 4GB (even though a fair number have HDs or smaller capacities), and the same for the iphone, and you estimate iPods as follow: Q3 - 10 million iPods, 15 million 4GB chips …

Avid has a similar format at the same bitrates, also 4.2.2. It's an open format. The real question is: is ProRes 4.2.2 just the same format in a different container. These details without a comparison to Avid's format, it's closest competitor, is al…

"However I would have thought an explanation as this story suggests that added secret features is the real reason for the delay would have been a far better excuse than they focused more on getting out the iPhone." I disagree. The "features" woul…

I think Shaw Wu is a little too prone to go easy on Apple, but the theory seems credible. Yes, I do fear that Jobs would say "Top Secret" features that would amount to little additional value, bullet-point features that were not significant. More…

Actually, Apple told them that, beyond some of the basic contract issues which Apple already changed, that the Consumer Group doesn't have authority... that it's Norweigan copyright law at issue. So... Apple continues to stonewall... The Consume…

Since estimates are finally rational, we'll start off a new round of raising estimates... irrational here we come!

I've always thought a boombox would be a great idea. The docking speakers from x, y, and z are huge sellers... so why not do it in a boombox formfactor, throw in a few huge @ss lion batteries to shut the whiners up, and you still have space for a co…

People need to read the full patent. It doesn't just discuss wireless. It talks about a dock or media bay that would be a docking station for an iPod but would include other functionality lik another HD, a chip, a battery, and/or power. That these d…
