With the m5 going to 2nm, it will be even more plausible for the iMac 32” to utilize both Max and Ultra SOCs. A 6k screen would work perfectly for 32” and both the supply chain and market convergence are ripe for the return of such a computing masterpiece. In studios and many businesses, there are many reasons an iMac setup makes more sense than a pc style setup like the studio. Especially when surface area is a minimum and cable clutter is not simple to manage. 

It’s time. We’ve endured the “meh” stage with the current lineup (excepting the M series SOCs, which are the “wow” stage) and we are ready for the return of the quintessential Mac. 

I like the way you think. For my purposes, the relevant comparison is to the 2020 i9 27" iMac with a 4TB SSD and 64GB of RAM. That kind of configuration is crazy expensive now that you can't add third-party RAM, and I'm not really interested in taking a step down in screen size. The only case for updating would be the M-series exclusives, and even with the futureware AI things coming, that's just not a very compelling case. It's actually on brand for the iMac to be the playful, colorful computer, even though I don't really like the colors on offer. But as long as Apple is willing to lean into the history of the iMac, what if a new 32" version were somehow connected to that beautiful old G4 arm, to recall the best iMac form factor ever? Now you've got something. (Let me dream, will ya?)
