I suspect the use of Apple's relay servers would be just as strong an indication of Apple device usage as this data "leak" is.  Likely just much ado about nothing.

It's like a pre-paid debit card. You can use it for anything.

It might be similar to a pre-paid debit card, but it is actually a (virtual) debit card tied to a bank account.

It would be nice if they would incorporate that data into the maps, then.  One can get directions on pedestrian only pathways, but there is no Look Around data to be had.

My bank keeps pushing me to use Zelle.  The first time, I wondered why they were doing this, since I was in the middle of doing a normal banking transaction.  So I read the terms & conditions.  First, it's not a bank, so banking laws don't apply.  Next, I read about the finality of all transactions, and no protection against fraud.  So I declined to use Zelle.  

Zelle provides no functionality that I can't get by doing traditional banking.  The only reason these banks created Zelle is to bypass banking laws and regulations, and stick it to their customers instead.

The better performance is not sufficient to mitigate the privacy issues.
