  • Apple's T2 chip has an unfixable vulnerability that could allow root access

I’m more interested in whether Apple will take this wake up call, and take steps to prevent such a blunder with the forthcoming Apple Silicon systems.
The problem is already fixed in the A12 chip and beyond, so it's unlikely Apple will reintroduce the bug in their ARM Macs.  Their developers' edition has an A12Z, so even it should be immune.

  • 'Cold' smiley, frowning poo among 67 emoji potentially headed to iPhone & Mac in 2018

I really don't understand the obsession with emoji and their use by anyone over 12 years old.  In most circumstances, I'd be embarrassed to use one.  Same for that sticker crap that Apple was promoting in recent TV ads.   Maybe I've become a "get off my lawn" guy, but I can't imagine myself using any of that at any age.   Apple is selling $600 phones and $3000 computers to people who use stickers in text messages?
Yeah you’re an old grumpy guy now. Different strokes. I’m in my 40s and my friends and I enjoy well placed emoji. They represent feelings or ideas in a more playful way than words alone. It’s fun. It‘s a form of gamification.

Ok, but why are their hundreds of "emojis" that have nothing to do with emotion?  Messages now "suggests" that I swap out the word "train" for a teeny picture of a train.  How does that make any sense?  It just seems like this jumped the shark a few years ago.  The proportion of emojis used satirically (e.g., "look how stupid this is that I swapped out a work for a picture" as opposed to "this emoji added value to the conversation or was more efficient than typing the word") is very high.
You're confusing emojis with emoticons. Emoji is from Japanese: ORIGIN 1990s: Japanese, from e ‘picture’ + moji ‘letter, character.’ Emoticon is from English: ORIGIN 1990s: blend of emotion and icon.

  • Bumble warns Apple privacy push could hurt business in IPO filing

How Bumble manages to lose $100 million a year on an app is anyone's guess, but being able to track people appears to be the least of their problems.
No, it is not "anyone's guess." It is extremely easy and quite understandable when you are building a national/international business, especially one that is essentially a marketing operation with no hard product. I am surprised you don't seem to understand startup costs, expansion costs and marketing costs how that can drive losses for young growth operation. That's the message your remarks sends.

I could be wrong, but I can not find anywhere in the article where it says Bumble lost $100 MM. The reason I can't find it is because it doesn't say that and they didn't lose $100 MM. It doesn't mention any amount of financial losses.

From what I read, the article is about the effects Apple's new privacy policies could have on their business prospects moving forward.
The $116 million loss is not mentioned in the article, but, unsurprisingly, it is mentioned in the IPO filing.

  • Apple Maps, Weather app now shows Crimea as Russian territory

It shows as Russian territory in the US as well. There is a border shown between Crimea and Ukraine, but not between Crimea and Russia. Disgusting.

  • Apple's ad agency recommends a stop to Twitter campaigns

In the short term Musk will use the expertise of his extensive team to iron out the kinks, flush out the excess, learn from initial mistakes and make Twitter better then ever.
My money’s on him long term.
Absolutely. He’s not an idiot, by a long shot. This will go how these things always go. There’s a lot of buzz right now, and everybody is paying attention. Companies are trying to virtue signal like crazy right now.

Twitter will be up and running functionally in no time. People will forget. And all the advertisers will return.

All the keyboard CEO’s who know better than Elon will move on to something else.

And all the morons who are going to “boycott” any business or brand advertising on Twitter will be patronizing all of them without a thought.
No, he's not an idiot.  He has a very high IQ, for sure.  His problem is his EQ (emotional quotient).  It seems to be in the low single digits, thanks to his narcissism and sociopathy.  He does well when working with things, and horribly when working with people.  Twitter is all about people, so he's floundering.

  • If you have an iPhone X, should you upgrade to the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max?

Quote:  The biggest new feature is Bokeh and Depth Control, which allows you to adjust the background blur and depth after taking photos. This feature alone is going to convince a lot of people to upgrade, simply because it makes photos look noticeably better.
The iPhone X is capable of doing both of these features. The only question is whether iOS 12 Photos app will allow it on the X.  The third party Focos app can adjust both depth of field and plane of focus on a portrait mode photo on an iPhone X.

  • Developers say Apple's limitations on location tracking are anti-competitive

If the vendors of other apps were as tight with my location data as is Apple, then I wouldn't have a problem with them collecting it. Unfortunately, that is not the case, so I side with Apple here.

I don't even know what I can use Apple Cash Card for beside Apple Store. It's an odd card that positioned oddly. I assume it acts like a gift that that you can refill.
It's like a pre-paid debit card. You can use it for anything.
It might be similar to a pre-paid debit card, but it is actually a (virtual) debit card tied to a bank account.

  • Apple Watch Ultra 2 vs Apple Watch Ultra - Specs, price, and features, compared

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has the same 36-hour battery life in "normal" usage but can increase that to 72 hours in Low Power Mode.

The Ultra 1 also has Low Power mode.  So do the Series 4 thru 8, and almost certainly the 9 as well.

This man’s virus alerts nagged all Windows machines across the world.
I don't know about early on, it might have been good at one time.  When I was doing IT support though MacAfee AntiVirus was a plague. It was one of the thinks we nuked new machines to get rid of.
Back in DOS days, it was one of the best.
