  • Satechi GaN USB-C Wall Chargers: faster, better, cheaper

Many of the other portable multi-port chargers from various providers on Amazon, or wherever, say that they are PD, which they probably are, but as soon as you plug in a second cable or device, all of the ports revert to, or stay at 5V with a maximum of 15W or less, and they don’t always say so in the big or small print.
It depends on the cable chosen. The Lightning cables draw a small amount of current when they plugged in, even when not connected to anything. The USB-C to USB-C cables do not do that. It is small, like .02 mw, but it is enough to detect and knock out the top 100w rate on any other port. Not really a big deal, unless you are in a hurry. If you need that full 100 watt rate, just make sure it is the only thing plugged in to the 3-port brick.

[I found this out by using the Zendure PowerTank Pro battery. Its display panel provides details on power in or out on each of its ports.]

  • Stalled Visa plan to cut Apple Pay fees causing tension with card issuers

Card issuers were also reportedly unhappy with Apple's decision to launch Apple Card, with sources saying it turned Apple into more of a direct competitor.
When Apple Card becomes available in Canada, you bet your sweet patootie I'm gonna jump from all the current bank-based card issuers. If Apple created its own bank, or cellphone network, or ISP, or car, or credit card company, I would also jump ship to those as well. That's because those companies have (in my opinion) never done what's best for me, but only for themselves. I often wonder why Apple doesn't branch out into those fields. Is Apple too fearful to branch out into new business lines?
Apple Card in .us is a bank issued card too.

  • Apple TV+ 'CODA' in theaters first film to have burned-in captions

This isn't the type of movie I'd see in a theater, but does that mean everyone would have to see the closed-captions on the screen? That would make it a no-go for me even if I was inclined to see it in a theater.
Unless you are fluent in ASL (American Sign Language), I would think subtitles would be required.  The story is about a Child Of Deaf Adults (CODA) and her relationship with her family. All of their dialog is silent (signed).  My fear is that it will be a real tear jerker, hopefully with a happy ending.

  • Apple engineers lack optimism about the Apple TV strategy, claims report

I’m in the camp of AppleTV being positively brilliant, and I had the 2017 model before. I have not had a cable tv subscription for more than 20 years.

HDMI 2.1 and eARC really cleaned up my living room. I used to have a sound bar w sub woofer hooked to the TV. Now I can use my HomePod pair for all audio, including from the TV receiver, (via the return channel) though I don’t use the TV receiver all that much. Instead I bought a TabloTV OTA DVR which has a client for the AppleTV.  Everything operates from the AppleTV remote.

  • Digital Key Release 3.0 could enable CarKey to work from your pocket

    What tesla does basically
I hope more reliably than Tesla’s Bluetooth key. The BT key in my iPhone generally unlocks my wife’s Model 3 fine, most of the time. But about 25% of the time it insists on me using the backup proximity key to authorize driving. I carry the prox key in my iPhone wallet, which is buried in my pocket. Really annoying!
