One of the many reasons I will never buy a Tesla. Haven’t CarPlay available means I’m getting access to what I already pay for: Apple Music - plus messaging etc that I use many times a day while commuting. No CarPlay, no sale.
There is no need for CarPlay on a Tesla.
My car has CarPlay and we use it all the time. One thing I like about it is if I ask my HomePod for the hours of a store and then head there, when I get into the car CarPlay offers to give me directions to that store. That works great for me at our second home where I’m less familiar with the area and tend to use navigation more often. Another thing it does is offer to give me navigation to the next appointment on my calendar. That works without having to share my calendar with a third party. We also use the HomePod  Intercom feature quite a bit. For example, if I’ve run out to pick up some take-out I can send an Intercom announcement that I’m almost home and then the table is set and everyone is ready when I walk in the door. Does that stuff work with Tesla?
In a word, yes.  Plus the Tesla app can actually drive the car, should you choose.

  • Surfshark, TurboVPN and more are secretly undermining security

When I am out, I VPN back to my home network, and go out from there. With a 2 Gbps symmetrical connection at home, it works pretty well. Yeah I know my ISP can see all my traffic, but I consider that better than some unknown (to me) VPN host. Otherwise, I use private relay, though that only works with Safari.

  • EU carriers want Apple's Private Relay blocked

Agree! What is the difference between already existing VPN services and Apple Private Relay?
Difference is Private Relay only applies to traffic from the Safari browser.  A VPN would apply to the entire device.

  • Apple engineers lack optimism about the Apple TV strategy, claims report

I’m in the camp of AppleTV being positively brilliant, and I had the 2017 model before. I have not had a cable tv subscription for more than 20 years.

HDMI 2.1 and eARC really cleaned up my living room. I used to have a sound bar w sub woofer hooked to the TV. Now I can use my HomePod pair for all audio, including from the TV receiver, (via the return channel) though I don’t use the TV receiver all that much. Instead I bought a TabloTV OTA DVR which has a client for the AppleTV.  Everything operates from the AppleTV remote.

Thanks for that heads up. I've been planning to pick up a new model, move my original 4K to a bedroom and relegate my old Gen 3 to a guest room.
This will save me some extra money with a free year of ATV+.
Except for one little detail: If your AppleID has ever had the promotion applied, you cannot get it again, even if you buy a new ATV4K.  That is not obvious in the plan’s marketing description. But it is buried in the terms and conditions, which of course, the Apple rep I spoke with, was happy to provide a link.  Not the typical positive interaction I was expecting.
