Is it so hard for people to understand that this is also about preserving cultural diversity in Europe?
The EU is made up of 27 countries, with 24 official languages! Only 2 of those countries have English as an official language. Do you think it is reasonable to expect an healthy local culture in the future when streaming services only have American shows? A similar law already applies to local networks. TV is not just a business.

I get it, but why should that responsibility be put on US companies? Aren't there streaming/content companies in the EU that their citizens can sign up for?

It seems to me that the EU is more interested in litigating fair competition rather than actually competing.
You get that it's about preserving local culture but don't get why the preserver would want to restrict imports of foreign culture?
If the EU wants to preserve cultural diversity, they should simply disband.

NetFlix, for example, is 45% non-US content. To get to 30% EU content, they will simply trim other content since there is not enough EU content to make up the difference.

the EU is no longer an economic zone but simply a legislative zone.

No mic? I can't use it to talk with my iPhone? The fact that it has active noise cancellation proves it has some sort of mic in it, but not one I can speak into?

It's labelled with L and R for the Left and Right sides. How are they going to market that in countries where English isn't known or spoken widely?
Dude, please try reading the article. It has multiple mics.  And I'm pretty sure people can figure out what L and R mean.  🙄
Dude, it's illegal to sell products in some countries that are English Only, regardless of whether they can figure it out.
    Links vs. Recht

L/R is “English only” for the unenlightened only.

As happens this isn’t universal, my 12 Pro Max is pretty much flatlined unless I’m using it.

I wonder if apps running in the background add up for some?
Same with my 12 Pro. When not in use, there is almost no drain.

I’m struggling to get the link between pandemic and Apple Watch growth. I suspect this market model output is more a product of the assumptions than any particular knowledge. A common model problem.
Also, as has been said many times before, this wearables category is a very strange basket of goods.
The link is the O2 sensor.

  • Apple's proposed changes to Uighur Forced Labor Prevent Act leak

The bill is obviously (intentionally?) badly written: one cannot prove a negative, “forbidden unless a company can guarantee that X not be the case” could simply be written as “forbidden” as nobody can guarantee that something isn’t the case. One can only guarantee to try to prevent something, or, as Apple correctly tried to have the legislation changed, not to utilize entities designated as being in violation.

These are matters of ensuring legal certainty rather than make corporations live under a Damocles sword.
I agree. I was stunned when I read the bill and they intentionally dismissed audits as evidence. The bill reads like it was written by a 1st year intern.
