Apple lands 'Hedy Lamarr' TV series starring Gal Gadot
DAalseth said:wizard69 said:This could be very interesting if done well. I'm not sure a long series is justified but a movie certainly would appeal to many.
It usually ends up looking like desperation when they run out of material but want to keep the series running. Lemarr is one interesting person but I can't see how a series would benefit any person from that era.

iOS 14 leaks sprung from Apple's supply chain, distributed & sold on social media

Reduce the number of human laborers to create the product, since that is a substantial cost, and incentivize the supply chain to move operations to the US as well.First off I suspect that people don't realize just how automated the plants in China are. The days of people manually populating PCB with components like seen in iPhone are gone. Beyond that we need to remember where all of this stuff came from in the first place. The fact is government (both conservative and liberal) conspired with business to move much of our industry to China. Americans got feed every excuse you can think of from the left and the right but in the end got screwed over.Sadly we still have people in these forums defending free trade and the resulting theft of IP by China. Seriously this is IP theft and in a way Apple is right to see it that way. The problem is, it is an everyday thing in China. The Chinese military even has a program to encourage this theft. In a nut shell you have a government in China ran by thugs and thief's. Now we shouldn't mix up what the government in China encourages with what the people there value because every person living in mainline China is impacted by the governments behavior. -

The more people in the process, the greater the risk for leaks and theft.Automation is completely possible, I've worked in this field for decades. The problem is often far more complex but a big issue is that it gives Apple a doge on taxes that they would have to pay in the USA. If it was simply a wages issue they would have left China already as China is no longer a low cost manufacture. Beyond that on a highly automated line wages are not as big of an issue as many think. What many people here don't remember is what happened when apple and the other manufactures left for China. Not one item ended up lower in cost to the consumer. Instead margins went up considerably and in Apples case they got really greedy with pricing. Those high profit at the expense of the workers in China really leads to a situation where it is easy for somebody to feel justified in stealing Apples tech.In the end Apple kinda deserves all the grief they get over this garbage. It might not be "right" in the most pure sense but the way people in China are treated isn't right either. Much of that bad treatment is due directly to the CCP and the parties involvement in Business. -
Apple diversifying AirPods supply chain, potentially pushing refresh back
Spreading out your manufacturing base is a good thing. Vietnam could certainly use a wider manufacturing base. More importantly this addresses some serious turns for the worse in China politically. China has become down right hostile to foreigners. As for the silly statement about Trump, the administration is only responding to hostile trade practices China has with the west. -
Apple Retail stores will look very different in the US when they reopen
Very interesting but I have two issues.First what happens to customers that normally run temperatures above “normal”. Frankly I really doubt there will be a lot of public tolerance to having their temperature taken.Second does social distancing really accomplished anything if people are wearing masks? I’ve been wondering about this a lot lately. I don’t mean actual touching here but rather the stupidity of the 6 foot rule.
