  • Domestic abuser busted in the act of putting an AirTag on a car

I've noticed that Apple typically stays out of "accessory" hardware, e.g. HomeKit, not buying NEST, etc. Beats being the exception.

Perhaps this was a big issue and Apple chose to lead by example as a way to call attention to the problem and how it could be solved with out throwing any particular manufacture under the bus?
I don’t think any for-profit publicly traded companies make decisions based on the altruistic notions you suggested.  Apple made AirTags because they saw an opportunity to created a product that significantly improved the customer experience in a space where they could make money.  I’m glad they did.  Currently using 3 of the AirTags in a 4-pack we got last year.

  • Apple shatters its own holiday financial record, hitting $123.9 billion in revenue on the ...

4.7% revenue beat and an 11.6% earning beat and the stock is just up 2.5% (at the moment) in after hours.  This is while still being down more than 12% from all time highs less than a month ago.

  • Apple gets Cydia app store lawsuit dismissed, for now

There are so many things I can’t do on my iPhone mini that I love that I was able to do on my older jailbroken iPhones.

That’s why I switched to Android now.

Android is clearly the better platform for you then.  That doesn’t legitimize this lawsuit.

  • Apple stock closes at record high, Microsoft unseated for top valuation

When MSFT passed AAPL in market cap there were dozens of articles, at least one by every news service.  I checked market caps after close today, low and behold they swapped back but this is the only article anywhere that mentions it.  Not even a peep on other Applecentric sites (MacRumors or 9to5mac).

  • Boxes of AirPods stolen in New York and Pegasus attacks in the Apple Crime Blotter

There is something sketchy about a 16-year-old trying to sell 56 boxes of AirPods on a Bensonhurst street corner at 9:30 PM on a Wednesday night. The dudes who showed up with guns probably figured that the seller was unlikely to report it to the police. It’s hard to imagine a legitimate explanation for why the teenager had the AirPods in the first place, and why it seemed like a good idea to meet up with strangers in a somewhat unsafe neighborhood at night with $2,600 in cash, when you’re the seller, not the buyer.

    Ah, kids these days.
He probably didn’t show up with $2,600.  He’d likely made that much from selling AirPods to buyers all evening. Quite possibly one of the criminals who robbed him had been one of the early customers and realized what an easy mark he was.
