I don't see anything stopping Facebook from providing this service to small businesses for free, if they are really so charitable, without having to ask Apple to chip in.

My thoughts exactly. 

Apple should post in the app stories: if you’re looking for Fortnite, it’s not available due to rule breaking by Epic. Say you stole $10 from your parents and were caught. You are sent to your room. Do you complain to your friends that your parents are dictators or do you return the money and apologize? Guess what Epic is doing.

Whatever Apple's cut is to be in the future, it will be determined by legislation and/or regulation in response to the anti-trust lawsuit, so Epic's actions today are absolutely pointless, but oh so heroic, as befits gaming.

It won’t. Apple doesn’t have a monopoly. No one is forced to buy an iPhone. No one is forced to develop for iOS. There are a lot of cheap phones other than iPhone.
