Latest iOS 19 redesign rumor hinges on sketchy iMessage mockup
That's a lot of shade being thrown on Jon Prosser, and a lot of assumptions being made. Jon never had any "fake scoops". He reported on things he had been told by insiders he trusted. "Fake" implies he lied. "Mistaken" is not the same thing, especially since Apple has made it clear recently that they themselves don't exactly know what they're doing.
We're still two months before WWDC, so anything Jon may have access to is still going to be early in development. So if these mockups look unfinished and unrefined...yeah, that makes sense. He also mentioned he was turning his screen brightness down for camera, which explains why the shift and backspace don't look like keys. But when you compare them to the visionOS keyboard, they look the same with a significantly darker background than the other keys.
When you take a chance and provide a "first look" at something no one else has seen, I guess you run the risk of people not believing you. When I first saw the new mockups of the 17 lineup, they looked fake to me. But more info keeps leaking which lends credence to them being accurate. You can't really be sure mere minutes after seeing something.
How many times has Gurman been wrong? There's a dude who hasn't had a real "scoop" since he came on the scene before the iPhone 4S. Most of his reporting seems like "logical guesses" based on supply chain info, but no more accurate or trustworthy than others in the "rumor arena". He files a report, the usual suspects print the same exact story about what he said today, and will report the same exact story about what he says in two weeks even when the reports change or are contradictory.
And...that's perfectly fine. No one at AppleInsider or MacRumors or 9to5Mac gets crapped on when they make mistakes. Why hold Prosser to a different standard? -
DuckDuckGo launches standalone web browser for Mac in beta
tifosi01 said:In settings scroll down and just below the "Open Links In Associated Apps" toggle is "More From DuckDuckGo" you'll see "Email Protection" and "DuckDuckGo Desktop App", thats where you can opt in for the desktop browser wait list
I had version 7.66.1.0 on my iPad and iPhone, and the App Store said I was up to date.
When I deleted DuckDuckGo from my devices and downloaded again, I now have 7.66.2.1.
With the newer version, I now see exactly what you mentioned. Thanks for the guidance! -

First look: Mac Pro and Apple Pro Display XDR [u]
I don't HATE the design...although it's so surprising that they went with the "cheese grater" design of the old Mac Pro tower system. I assume this was their only way to allow for proper cooling without the ridiculous fan noise of PC workstations.
What left me annoyed, even as a casual user who would never buy one of these, was the 256 GB SSD included as standard storage in the base model. I'm sorry...but if I am spending $6000 for an Apple workstation, designed for pro level work, anything less than 512 GB standard is just a slap in the face. It's an immediate required upgrade for anyone who would spend the money for one of these. And for Apple to not just suck up the extra $200 they would lose on that upgrade is highway robbery.
The new modular Mac Pro is going to ruffle a lot of feathers for a variety of reasons. Apple being stingy about base storage on a $6000 computer is what annoyed me. -
Apple's Face ID-equipped iPad Pros likely ready for production, shipping late next quarter...
Like others, I wonder how FaceID will be implemented.
For visual looks, you'd think the camera would be at the top of the iPad when held vertically, like a piece of paper.
But for all the Pro users out there using keyboards, having it not work in horizontal mode seems like a major flaw.
And if Apple could have made FaceID work in both orientations, then why doesn't the iPhone X already work this way?
Eager to find out what Apple's solution to this is.
