Video: Apple HomePod vs. Google Home Max
Soli said:jcs2305 said:Soli said:1) You guys are killing it with these in-depth A/V reviews.
2) Since there is so much possibility for alteration of the original sound between uploading to YouTube and playing on whatever speaker system one may have, is it feasible to have a visual display of the audio playback that would be useful to the viewer?
3) Have you done far-field mic tests yet? From my experience on a scale of 1–10 of voice activated services:
1 = iPhone
2 = Apple Watch
5 = Echo Dot (2G)
6 = Echo (1G)
7 = Echo Plus
11 = HomePod
I thought the original Echo was magical but the HomePod blows them all out of the water. Even at the loudest volume, from across the room or even out of the room, it picks up my commands.

Verizon to join other carriers in temporarily locking new iPhones
maciekskontakt said:Well that is why I buy only unlocked devices and I do not rely on Verizon sold units. Not worth it. If they lock my devices... well meet my attorney.

Lesser-known Android phone makers copy look of Apple's iPhone X
flashfan207 said:rrrize said:Apple's goal with the iPhone X was to make a phone that was ALL screen with no bezels. So, some genius says "Hey, since we don't want to make a small bezel above the screen to put the camera and FaceID technology, let's put the bezel IN the screen!!" ...and thus the iPhone X was born. A smartphone maker following that idiotic idea is a kin to how the trend of wearing one's pants with the waits below the butt so the underwear is showing and you have to walk with your legs spread in order to keep the pants up. One person who I guess was considered cool, started that trend and someone said, "Hey, I'm gonna wear my pants that way too!!" ...and thus that idiotic trend was born.
