I bought two recently and, as someone else noted, I have not been blown away by the sound quality or “room-filling sound”. At $299 the didn’t break the bank. However, the lack of line-in for my vinyl record player still leaves me unhappy with the product overall. That clearly is designed to protect Apple Music subscriptions. Three out of a possible five stars, IMO.

  • Apple debuts 14-inch MacBook Pro with HDMI, MagSafe, and a notch

I just snatched up a 14" 16GB/1TB SSD. With education pricing and tax, it was just over 2k. Considering this should last at least 5 years, I consider it well worth the wait. It also is the first Macbook Pro I have ever bought. Usually I go for a minimal specced Air. I prefer a bit more future-proofing nowadays and much more capability.

  • Apple hires new HomePod Software Head to boost lackluster speaker sales

We have three Homepods and three Homepod minis. I love the Homepods. The stereo pair connected to Apple TV in the living room is transporting. However, I needed a separate pair of speakers for my turntable. Ouch! Having said that, the minis, to my ears, do not sound great-at all. Moreover, in my office, where I have a Mac mini, iPad Pro, and iPhone, directing audio output to the mini is a pain. Add to that, I need to start playing a track to then Airplay it to the Homepod. Ouch. The software and services do not impress at all. Everyday, I want to throw the mini out the window.

  • Sonos criticizes Google, Amazon, and Apple at Senate antitrust hearing

I may be in the minority here, but I hated my Sonos and returned it a few days after getting it. The sound quality was not as freat as I had read. More importantly, I hated needing to use the Sonos app to play my Apple Music tracks-and I hated the Sonos UI.

If Sonos is so upset about the lack of interoperability, why did they not allow the Apple Music app to control the Sonos speaker? Why? They wanted to lock out Apple from the music player experience. Am I missing something here?

These companies are whiny whiners who think companies that make large investments in innovative technologies for themselves should just give it away. That thinking will do more to harm to innovation than otherwise.

Where is the motivation to spend resources to develop technologies that differentiate you from competitors if you are forced to share those technologies with your competitors?

  • Amazon acquiring MGM Studios in $8.45 billion deal

I’ll buy the Bond films on DVD/Blu-ray. Nothing else there matters to me.

  • Rumor: 'Apple Watch Series 7' to feature flat edges, green color option [u]

I've been wearing an Apple Watch daily since Series 0. I went from that to the Series 4 that I still wear: Black Stainless Steel. It's fast, fluid, and there isn't a single scratch. Having said that, I was preparing for a Series 7 and would gift my 4. If this flat design is accurate, I'll pass. I cannot see how sharp corners on this watch would be at all comfortable. It would dig into my wrist.
