    India only assembles phones while China produces a high fraction of critical parts. That will not change in the foreseeable future if ever, so Apple faces a tough road ahead. The difficulties other companies have faced manufacturing in India suggest Apple will eventually look elsewhere. Inane talk, Chinese and Vietnamese work.

    Grammerly has the advantage of being web based and cross platform, and in the Pro version it has a lot of sophisticated tools for structured documents as well as plagiarism checking. It is unlikely Apple will develop it to this extent so users of these features will probably stay put for now. Casual users of the free version will probably switch to the Apple native app, this will not be a big loss for Gramerly in revenue terms except as a demonstration tool ie whatever revenue they derive from the user data/activity. I’ll use both.

    This is more BS from US politicians fear-mongering China to distract from the problems at home they utterly fail to address, projecting US protectionist measures taken against Chinese companies on the PTC government decision. 

    These are not restrictions on Apple’s access to the Chinese market, its second largest, and also a significant revenue earner for Chinese manufacturers. 

    This thread also includes some inaccurate comments. Accusations against Huawei o bout IP theft and electronic surveillance were never proven of credible. Finally, the US used sales of equipment to Iran as the basis to enact export bans of US components to Huawei and ZTE, clearly intended to cripple them commercially.

    One thing is clear to informed, thinking people: any Chinese company that out-paces US competitors will be tarred as a “security threat” because the “level playing field” the US lecture 
    s the world about always has to tilt in favor of the US. This was the case when Japanese beat the USA (Google Plaza Accord), which Korea and now China. G

    Sweeney is welcome to develop his own hardware and OS. If he doesn’t like Apple he can pull his games and go home. There are plenty of gaming platforms out there. 
    He is asking for special treatment for his company, do not see that as fair or happening.
