  • New iMac and Mac mini coming soon, says leaker

What is “100” supposed to mean?
Pretty sure he is saying 100% confirmed, but I may be misreading that.

  • New 14.1-inch MacBook Pro, 2020 iMac Pro may sport Mini LED displays

Conceptually, there is a continuum between having 1 monolithic backlight, having an array of backlights, to having each pixel being independently lit. MiniLED is in the rather variable in-between of the two ends. Once you get down to the level of each pixel being independently lit, people will call that type of tech OLED or microLED.
I don't think the Pro Display qualifies as mini led, it basically has local dimming zones like most high end tv's.  Compare that to the TCL mini led screen, that has 25 thousand led's for backlights.  While its not a 1-1 pixel ratio, the ratio of pixels to led's is much smaller on a mini led vs those that have local dimming zones.

  • HomeKit support lands on Amazon's Eero mesh routers

    Soli said:

I bought them for my mother's ridiculously large house right before Amazon acquired them. The HW, SW, and setup have all been great. Apple's existing routers weren't ever going to be good enough since they don't have a proper mesh option. I don't think I'd buy them today because of Amazon, but I also can't argue with the results.

PS: Unfortunately, she hadn't been using the Eero routers for the last several months. An ISP tech came out to the house and convinced her that her routers weren't good and that she needed their modem/router combo for an additional monthly cost. ߤ젏f course her range and speeds are considerably worse now, which is why she contacted me… which she should've done before all this happened. I got her back onto the Eeros, but she's still paying the monthly fee to the ISP. :sigh:
Just an FYI, I don't know who your mothers provider is, but at least with Spectrum they can remotely turn off the wifi(all their modems now include wifi).  They pulled the same crap with my parents, but I was able to get them to refund the couple months they charged the $5.00 wifi fee.  I could care less about the the amount charged, its just seeing them take advantage of a generation that may be less technically inclined pisses me off(for essentially a downgraded experience from an older Asus gaming router). .

  • Apple working on radical iMac redesign using single sheet of glass

If they just reduce the current designs bezels and reduce or entirely remove the chin so it looks like just the screen floating on the stand from the front, I think a lot of people would be excited.  I don't want to see them integrate the stand into the "face" of the device like these designs show.

  • Review: Samsung T7 Touch SSD builds upon the T5 in every way

I would preface my recommendation with the fact that with solid state backups, I have had no issues with either Samsung or Sandisk(only brands i have tried), so best case scenario pick the brand that has the feature you need in an acceptable form factor and price range.  Personally, I have two T5's(both 500gb, got them as part of a flash sale).  One is hooked up to my PS4 for game storage(loads much faster than standard drive) and one as a back drive for photo's/videos.  The one on the PS4 is used on an almost daily basis and has had no issues after two years.  I'll be keeping an eye out for another T5, hopefully their will be a price drop or another sale with the T7's coming out.  If you need the faster read/write speeds, and assuming the T7's are of similar quality as the T5, then I would recommend them.
