  • Twitter sues Elon Musk for backing out of $44 billion merger

This has nothing to do with bots. Its buyers remorse for a rich guy who suddenly realized that he doesn't want to tie up 20% of his wealth for an idea he only half baked.

Compressed timeline: Eccentric billionaire wakes up, thought it was a brilliant idea. Consult yes men.  Eccentric billionaire wakes up, thought it was a bad idea, Consult yes men.

What ever his actual reasons are it's outrageous that this guy is trolling twitter and playing with peoples livelihood. I'm sure plenty of semi-normal employees have allot of their retirement in Twitters stock and here comes "I do what ever I want and the rules don't apply" Musk.

  • Elon Musk mulling offer to buy Twitter from shareholders for $46.5B

Free speech is critical, but it's not that simple. Social media companies have become a wasteland of misinformation and hate. Not every corner of that wasteland but more than enough that we all know it. Taking a hands-off approach to Twitter will certainly allow anyone to say anything they want, but it also opens the flood gates for hate, misinformation, and manipulation in general. You need rules and regulations at a minimal capacity for any community to function.

I'm tired of hearing folks mention that they want to read and hear everything from both sides so they can be informed. But that feels like wishful ideological thinking. Let's be honest; all of us tend to slide into the camp that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy even if we try not to. We aren't infallible.

Anyway, I'm tired of it all and, in particular, Musk. I'm tired of billionaires, in general, stroking their egos as champions of the public. They do nothing to press for change that would fundamentally disadvantage themselves in favor of those they claim they Champion. It's all smoke and mirrors, resulting in greater wealth, power, and influence. What's the right way to fix this issue? It's impossible to say. Twitter has plenty of issues, but I don't trust Musk to do anything that doesn't put himself first.

  • Apple made secret 5-year $275B deal with Chinese government

It's hard to feel anything but bad about this. That's the problem with multi national companies being a thing these days. There is no loyalty nor sense of community for these companies. Apple, much like other huge International corporations prioritize its current and future wellbeing without any thought given to where they came from. Apple will continue to play all sides in order to get favor with whom ever it needs to increase its revenue and influence. I don't know what the answer is to all of this but at the end of the day I think companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google, and others have too much power. I don't like the idea of not sharing the wealth but at the same time as an American company I'd like to see apple spend some of its resources to balance that equation with (for example) some effort on improving its manufacturing footprint in the US. China won't be cheep forever.

  • New energy regulations prompt Dell to stop sales of high-performance PCs in six states

So much drama in some of these posts. These are nothing more than steps to help influence power efficiency of off the shelf computers. It feels no different to me then setting vehicle efficiency requirements. No one is stopping you from customizing or building exactly what you want. But Clearly CA and these other states want to start putting more pressure on manufactures to be more mindful of performance per watt.

I'm beyond exhausted of folks throwing their hands up in outrage over next to nothing. Take a deep breath, stop reading inflammatory articles on the internet that are intended to make you angry and go for a freaking walk.

And yeah, also as a proud resident of California I can also say SWEET!

  • Tim Cook 'probably' leaving Apple in next ten years

Nothing about this is surprising in my opinion. Cook is human and will eventually want to move on and enjoy himself doing whatever he wants. Back in the day when Jobs was still at the helm, I remember during the keynotes Steve began to invite more and more people from the SVP and VP team to come on stage to walk the audience through different aspects of the keynote. I remember thinking back then "oh my god, he's working on a transition". The keynotes have mostly stayed like this since those days so it would be hard to tell what SVP might be up for the promotion to CEO. Personally, I think the way Apple manages itself publicly these days is highly effective. Everyone watching or covering apple gets time to know the SVPs and someday when Tim hangs it up it will just be another day at work.

What Tim needs to do, however, is to ensure that the DNA inside the company won't change dramatically with new leadership. That's in part why I'm sure someone internal will be promoted up rather than an outsider being brought in. Apple's future needs to be entrusted to someone who knows the game and can tweak the formula based on market needs. Not some blowhard who wants to make their mark for the sake of having a legacy.
