  • Apple made secret 5-year $275B deal with Chinese government

It's hard to feel anything but bad about this. That's the problem with multi national companies being a thing these days. There is no loyalty nor sense of community for these companies. Apple, much like other huge International corporations prioritize its current and future wellbeing without any thought given to where they came from. Apple will continue to play all sides in order to get favor with whom ever it needs to increase its revenue and influence. I don't know what the answer is to all of this but at the end of the day I think companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google, and others have too much power. I don't like the idea of not sharing the wealth but at the same time as an American company I'd like to see apple spend some of its resources to balance that equation with (for example) some effort on improving its manufacturing footprint in the US. China won't be cheep forever.

  • Apple quietly pulls 12-inch MacBook from sale

I wonder if it's dead forever or if it will be reborn into apples first ARM Mac. It's certainly a bummer because I have one of those 12 inch MacBooks and well, it's incredible. Its lightness and smallness were simply unmatched. The new MacBook Air is impressive, but once this little guy has spoiled you, it will be hard to move to something heavier. If only it could somehow have had two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports it would be my personal "perfect" Mac.

    RIP little guy!

  • Why the Mac's migration to Apple Silicon is bigger than ARM

I find this all rather exciting because unlike in the past where we could look at the future roadmap for PowerPC and Intel we realistically have limited understanding of what apple's new silicon could look like. That goes especially for their higher-end Macs. The chip used in the developer Mac mini looks to certainly be capable for MacBook Air and other compact portables however I'm extremely interested to see what those higher-end chips could look like.

Given the transition is scheduled to take around two years that would indicate to me that the architecture of all their Mac-based chips is more or less finalized. The new silicon should provide incredible versatility for making many processes more efficient. However, I'm curious if for the high-end iMac or Mac Pro if Apple will be motivated to silence critics worried about high-end performance. The possibilities are wide open for what kind of monster Apple could create. The Mac Pro has a lot of thermal capacity. So at the end who knows but for me at least I'm quite excited.

  • Twitter sues Elon Musk for backing out of $44 billion merger

This has nothing to do with bots. Its buyers remorse for a rich guy who suddenly realized that he doesn't want to tie up 20% of his wealth for an idea he only half baked.

Compressed timeline: Eccentric billionaire wakes up, thought it was a brilliant idea. Consult yes men.  Eccentric billionaire wakes up, thought it was a bad idea, Consult yes men.

What ever his actual reasons are it's outrageous that this guy is trolling twitter and playing with peoples livelihood. I'm sure plenty of semi-normal employees have allot of their retirement in Twitters stock and here comes "I do what ever I want and the rules don't apply" Musk.

  • Facebook-owned Instagram also chafing at Apple's App Store control

This is so stupid. Facebook is such a coward. Jumping on the bandwagon after Epic. Truly pathetic to spray BS trying to get the court of public opinion to give you a business advantage. My mother would be all over my ass if I was acting like this much of a baby.

  • Editorial: No WSJ, Apple isn't stuck in China

I mean this is all a little bit foolish. The idea of claiming that "Apple" as if only apple focused Its manufacturing in Asia. More or less every manufacturing company in the freaking universe sources heavily from china and east Asia and surprise surprise all of them are getting impacted from this. Apple like the rest of America's major companies have been outsourcing for one reason or another for years and this is definitely a side effect of putting too many eggs in one basket. I know Apple has attempted and experimented with diversifying its supply sourcing with some success and I simply expect this will accelerate given these current disruptions. All in all my point being that global companies outsource, mostly to east Asia, everyone is in the same boat, and I expect some changes in the future.

  • Beyond Rosetta 2 for Intel apps, 'Apple Silicon' Macs will run iPhone, iPad apps natively

What I find most exciting is a two year transition road map means architectures are pretty much sorted for all the Macs in the line up. Given we can't get any solid ideas on what the processors will look like Im genuinely excited to see what kind of monsters apple will be building for their high end iMacs and Mac Pros. I can only assume Apple will want to come out swinging so I'll be quite excited to see what a tare down of these chips will look like.

  • Elon Musk mulling offer to buy Twitter from shareholders for $46.5B

Free speech is critical, but it's not that simple. Social media companies have become a wasteland of misinformation and hate. Not every corner of that wasteland but more than enough that we all know it. Taking a hands-off approach to Twitter will certainly allow anyone to say anything they want, but it also opens the flood gates for hate, misinformation, and manipulation in general. You need rules and regulations at a minimal capacity for any community to function.

I'm tired of hearing folks mention that they want to read and hear everything from both sides so they can be informed. But that feels like wishful ideological thinking. Let's be honest; all of us tend to slide into the camp that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy even if we try not to. We aren't infallible.

Anyway, I'm tired of it all and, in particular, Musk. I'm tired of billionaires, in general, stroking their egos as champions of the public. They do nothing to press for change that would fundamentally disadvantage themselves in favor of those they claim they Champion. It's all smoke and mirrors, resulting in greater wealth, power, and influence. What's the right way to fix this issue? It's impossible to say. Twitter has plenty of issues, but I don't trust Musk to do anything that doesn't put himself first.
