  • iOS 12 users must unlock their iPhones every hour to maintain USB connections

I read in another article yesterday that this option is just that - an option...as in, you'll be able to turn it off.  If so, the title of this article is misleading/incorrect.

  • Apple may need to fight Amazon for land to build Northern Virginia campus

I hope Apple chooses NC.  Research Triangle has a huge talent pool from both an academic (3 major universities form the "research triangle") and technical perspective (lots of tech companies here - Research Triangle Park, at one point at least, was the third-largest tech corridor in the US (after Silicone Valley and Route 128 in MA).

But it may not.  There isn't enough public transit here and the "International" airport is only international if you want to travel to France, England, or the Caribbean :-(  But hopefully one of the promises NC makes in return for Apple (or Amazon, for that matter) locating here, is to address these shortcomings.

  • Apple's iPhone X exclusively used to shoot Spanish edition of People '50 Most Beautiful Pe...

Apropos add-on lenses: what are some good choices for iPhone X telephoto lenses?  I was using a "Moment" telephoto lens on my iPhone 6 before I upgraded.  It used a thin metal plate glued onto the back of the phone onto which the lenses could be attached.  Worked pretty well - but the plate was specific to iPhone 6 and the lens was only 3x.  I ended up throwing them away when I gave my old phone to my dad.  Is there anything that provides more than 3x magnification?  The iPhone X already has 2x, so 3x isn't really enough of a draw.

  • 2016 MacBook Pro butterfly keyboards failing twice as frequently as older models

These keyboards represent one of the worst design decisions of anything Apple has created in recent history.

Imagine hobbling a device that is supposed to be used by the professional daily for hours on end with an uncomfortable and unreliable keyboard.

The whole 'boutique'-leaning design of the latest Mac Book Pros has been a disaster for Apple.  I'm still using my several year old device in the vain hope Apple will rectify this situation and give us a laptop which prioritises professional usage over superficiality and bling!
The Apple apologists here will just say you should carry a keyboard with you everywhere you go. Plus never need to plug it in so MagSafe isn’t necessary, as though MacBooks 10 hour battery life is the case under heavy loads.
...so you figure you might as well make an a$$ of yourself and increase the noise level of the thread before *that* happens?

  • Fall LCD iPhone could be $200 cheaper than OLED counterparts, says analyst

What I'm really curious about is whether all the new iPhone 8s's (i.e. the LCD models) will have Face ID.  I imagine Apple will want to eventually bring that feature to all phones & tablets, but it seems too early to do it in an "s" cycle - especially since it's pretty much the main distinguishing feature between the X and 8 series (well, there's the OLED, but in my book that's not that big a selling feature, except to geeks.  I moved from an old iPhone 6 to an X and, sure, the screen is better, but not more so than with every other upgrade I had in the past).
