I use a Note 8 for work to keep a foot in the Android world. The iris scanning requires you to pick the phone up and actually stare at it. The pure facial recognition doesn’t work consistently. Apple crushed Samsung on this front with the iPhone X. FaceID is infinitely better. Plus apps that adopted FaceID on iOS lag behind on Android and only work with fingerprint. 

Have this phone for a week. Need to decide if I am keeping it. FaceID is a pain in the rear. Most apps are not optimized for the notch so they are condensed. I realize app optimization will take time but $1200 with tax for this type of experience has been a bit of a bummer.

What I find kind of sad is that Apple basically mints money and these rumors move the stock downward many times. Meanwhile cesspools like Facebook see their stock continue to rise while their core product is just selling ads and click-bait. Kind of screwy. It shows how far the stock market has drifted to nonsense trades. 

So I can't comment whether these rumors are true or not, but if they are I assume Apple is not surprised at this. The technology is so far more advanced than traditional facial recognition that they had to know it would be a challenge. I assume they are willing to struggle for a year on iPhone X yield to get the process down so next year's iPhone releases can hit their stride with a far wider release across multiple iPhone models. Meanwhile I still see iPhone 8 models as not available in local stores so I assume they are selling those to more mainstream buyers.

If they change the watch so the bands don't fit it will be a tough pill to swallow. I have the Apple link bracelet and several other Apple and premium third party bands. Would be very disappointing. However Tim and company are smart and know people spent good money on their own bands plus stuff like Hermes. I doubt they would anger so many people.
