I was never able to get Google Maps to provide me turn by turn on the watch. Apple Maps haptic feedback on the watch is excellent for turns and such. I too am seeing more and more Apple Watches in the wild.

I tried one of these out at Best Buy. Took it off the wireless charger and boy was it hot to the touch. The wireless charging really churns the heat. 

It really comes down to the use case for the purchase. The iPad in any form is not really a true "work" device. The lack of a mouse is really an issue here as well as the lack of floating windows for simple multi-tasking. In addition, several work related web apps that spawn multiple windows and rely on certain runtimes just don't work in Safari or even Chrome for iOS. At the same time, the Surface is not a tablet for leisure. The Windows Store is atrocious, the lack of entertaining games is immense and even simple news apps are usually broken. I would imagine someone looking for an ultra-portable Windows device that emphasizes the ability to do work would love the Surface. However, it is highly unlikely that someone who buys a Surface because they think it is a true media consumption tablet will be satisfied with it. The use cases are completely different and are not, pardon the pun, apples to apples comparison. 

All I know is I am ready for an OLED iPhone. I carry an S7 Edge for work just to have a toe in the Android world and the screen is miles better. Granted the OS is bloated, the apps are usually cheap imitations and the phone easily gets hot when being used. However, the screen is fantastic and the form factor is much better than iPhone 7+. 

If the rumors are true, the iPhone 8/X/Edition will only have 5.15 inches of usable screen space. That would be a major bummer for those of us who really like the big screen form factor. 

The market is chasing companies that they think can monetize services forever. Facebook is the biggest example in my opinion. If you asked someone to pay $1 a month for Facebook, there user base would most likely take a big hit. Google at least provides the best search engine in the world. I could not do my job without Google and the ability to find workarounds and troubleshooting. I sure as hell can live without Facebook (and do). I love when people talk about monetization of crapola like WhatsApp. Like somehow billions will be made on a second rate messaging platform selling ads.
