Cramming all the extra radios into the watch isn't going to happen anytime soon so all the features I like that depend on communication with the 'net require the iPhone. And I'm okay with that as I NEVER leave my iPhone behind. Just never.

I just about never get below about 60% on watch battery power by midnight when I'm done for the day so I'm happy with the battery. Plus I like the looks. If all I wanted was a bauble I'd wear some Swatch toy. Or my just tells the date and time Rolex. (Now THERE'S "clunky looking", far thicker than my Apple Watch for one).

The profit calculation is based on Australian tax law. Go fix the tax law if its broken.  But don't be blaming Apple for following the law and taking advantage of it.

Lying often isn't illegal. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be criticized and reported on.

It is if you pay taxes on the basis of the "lies". OTOH when you follow the definitions and determinations as laid out IN the tax law then you're not actually "lying", simply obeying the rules as written, even when written different than other tax laws elsewhere.

besides the point I've read many articles that said loop pay is extremely unreliable. To the point its not even worth using.

That's the real deal isn't it? Get one too many of those letters saying your information may have been hacked and your card is  being replaced and Apple Pay becomes THE way to pay: or cash.
