William, any idea when current subscribers will see these increases? In Settings under subscriptions none of Apple TV+, nor Apple News, renewing in beginning and mid November show these new higher prices (yet)…

Are we grandfathered in? And if so, for how long?

Would Premium also get grandfathered in, and for how long? I might upgrade to Premium if we get grandfathered in, certainly if indefinitely!

If you had simply purchased the S&P 500 for $1400 in 1993, you’d be able to buy this, and still have an extra $1,333.65 left over to pocket.

You may want to recall that “personal” computers were first only for spreadsheets (VisiCalc anyone?) and businesspeople, later they became essential tools for school, home (gaming), and now, even to access most government services as well. Meta is playing a very long game. Eventually once us old farts die off, the metaverse will likely be where most transactions, social connection, provision of goods, and more takes place.

All of that said, I’m not convinced that Meta will succeed in being successful there, in fact it may actually be Apple that will be successful in the metaverse. But don’t kid yourself that the new & upcoming kids some not yet born won’t be (much) more virtual than us oldies typing things on keyboards!

Two things:

1) I think the fact that this product is large just shows how much and how well they pack maH into the phone itself. Very little of it is chips, it’s basically all battery, whether 12, 12 pro, or max. Amazing.

2) I’d love to know—maybe it’s on Apple’s site, but it would be welcome in the review, if the waterproof rating one gets with an iPhone 12 / pro is maintained when attaching this to it?

Belkin says the portable magnetic charger (the one that doesn’t cover the camera) provides 2500 mAh and that it gives you 50% more power for an iPhone 12. Since an iPhone 12 has 2815 mAh, it seems that means we lose ~ 1100 mAh (of the 2500) via magnetic induction transmission, heat, etc. and are applying ~ 1400ish mAh net extra power to the iPhone. I guess that’s the only sad thing about all of this MagSafe stuff, its inefficiency. It sure is a nice feature though! I love my magnetic charging stand, w/ one handed removal in the morning.
