  • New iPhone 11 Pro delivery times already starting to slip

For the first time since 2007, and as one who purchases a new iPhone annually, I’m passing on buying any of the new models. The updated camera, supposed increased battery life and average spec bumps just wasn’t enough to entice me. Looking forward to the 2020 models which will be redesigned, have 5G and a host of other desirable features.
No one knows whether the 2020 will have a new look. Not that a new shell design means much.

And a 20% increase in processing, while consuming less power for 4 more hours of battery is an “average spec bump”? ok my guy.
I don't understand what more people want in a phone. The majority of phone users are using it to talk, text, play games, and take pictures. Increased processing is good for games and the new camera is actually pretty impressive. 5G? Who cares at this point when only a select few of the population can experience it.

  • Disney CEO Bob Iger resigns from Apple board as streaming wars heat up

But Disney also owns the company that makes Hero Pro cameras, and it's a small step for them to take that capacity and start producing hardware like a video streamer. .
What?! Since when? Please provide reference because the last time I checked, GoPro was still another public company... unless I missed something.
https://www.titlemax.com/discovery-center/money-finance/companies-disney-owns-worldwide/ Steamboat Ventures: An offshoot of The Walt Disney Company, Steamboat founder and Managing Partner John Ball serves on GoPro's board. He and his team have a history of backing companies that go on to be acquired. Ever heard of Steamboat Willie? Yes, GoPro is publicly traded, but Disney owns so much of the stock Disney reps sit on the GoPro board of directors.
That's actually not true. Disney's investment arm Steamboat Ventures doesn't own that much GoPro stock. John Ball was only a board member for 3 years. He actually hasn't been on the GoPro board for 5 years now. So Disney really doesn't have that much to do with GoPro.

  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max preorders have started

Always puzzled by the term “preorder.” Are you not in fact ordering an item that will arrive a few days or a week later like anything else you buy online? Nothing “pre” about it. Anyways, carry on. Enjoy your phones!
It's called a preorder because you are ordering something before it's released. Hence the word "pre." Buying something online that arrives a few days later is not the same thing. It's already available you are just waiting for it to ship and deliver.

I got in at 5:04 am and my delivery date was already Oct 1 but my pickup date in Sept 20, so I’ll go and get mine. Of course the clear case isn’t going to be ready for pickup until Oct 1, go figure. I also ordered my Otterbox Strata case this morning and they list an Oct 1 date.
Oddly enough my clear case is scheduled to arrive on September 18. Like you said, go figure.

I procrastinated with ordering the clear case and now it's going to arrive September 25. Had I ordered it yesterday, I would have received it today.

  • Apple has very nearly tripled the Apple Arcade game developer count

I think Apple is targeting parents heavily and their fear of kids asking for in app purchases or high bill from them. Here you have decent 5 bucks a month and play....
    I don't think it's a coincidence that $4.99 a month = $60 a year, or the typical price of a single console game either.
Not to mention with console you are paying $60/year for PSN Plus (or Xbox Live) to play online plus few free games a year.
You actually get over 24 free games a year with PSN Plus. The free games aren't crap either, lots of huge titles. I don't think it's a fair comparison between the yearly cost of Apple Arcade and a single $60 console game. That one console game probably costs more to develop than most of the games available on Apple Arcade combined. As an example, Red Dead Redemption 2 was over $200 million to develop.
I think there is too much comparison going on between single-purchase console games and the Apple Arcade subscription service. At launch, they seem to have quite different gaming audiences. With Arcade appearing to be going for casual gaming and parents.

While a serious gamer may pick up the subscription to satisfy casual free time, this is not going to be a replacement for their $60 highly-involved console games, and typically this market can afford both.

Also these services represent a way for apple to spend some of their massive cash horde to create further stickiness on the platform. Similar to how Nintendo is still able to see mini-NES and mini-SNES consoles. By all assumptions the titles will be mostly new IP and exclusive to the platform.
I completely agree. For me personally, I have no interest in Apple Arcade since I do all my gaming on a console. Apple Arcade is definitely good for parents and casual gamers. What would interest me are more games for the Apple TV. Since you brought up Nintendo, wouldn't it be pretty cool if they released the old school games you see on the NES Classic and SNES Mini for iOS/Apple TV? Even Sega is releasing a mini Genesis console this month. Unfortunately I doubt we will ever see those games on iOS or the Apple TV.
