This is a huge problem in the western world. The Chinese are stealing from companies and universities. The only solution is to stop giving visas to Chinese nationals but that will unlikely never happen.

Leaving aside the China-economy-and-foreign-currency thing, here's a summary of the quarter:

•Mac revenue at all time high, which infers all-time high sales.
    • iPad revenue up 17 percent, again inferring sales growth.
    • Services (and general revenue) up 19 percent yoy -- inferring increased ecosystem stickiness.
    • Wearables/(smart)Home/Accessories up 33 percent
    • Installed base of 1.4B devices, may hit 2B by end of 2020 -- more Apple users than ever before.
    • Revenue guidance for Q2 is again ~4-5 percent lower than last year -- inferring trade war/China economy woes may continue for another quarter before we see a recovery.

Given the macroeconomic conditions trending lower worldwide out there (US/UK committing economic suicide, ripple effects of China economic could trigger recession) -- this is much better than I expected to be frank.
I completely agree. This is way better than I expected. The revenue growth outside of the iPhone has almost offset the decline in sales for the iPhone.

  • Apple's streaming video service could launch by mid-April, report says

I do not see any benefit from Apple producing its own shows.   We already have a ton of organizations who specialize in this.   So what makes Apple think they can do it better?

Apparently, they think that they can.   But, so far, I have not seen any evidence to support the belief.
The future is cloud services and content it's the only way Apple can keep charging  extortionate prices for its phones, it has to provide plenty of free quality value add. This is why it needs to get airplay on as many TVs out there as possible to give this a chance. I don't think the growth will be that great to be honest and apple may have to spend it's billions on making iOS TVs in hope they can take on Samsung, LG and Sony but who wants to buy a walled garden TV and at a premium price.
Apparently you haven't seen how much Samsung are charging for their phones.

  • Apple game subscription service reportedly in early stages of development

For what? So I can play some cheap iPhone games for free?

Unless Apple starts developing its own games and getting 3rd parties on board to bring console games to the next Apple TV, then who cares if I can play the paid version of Angry Birds and other indie titles?

Older console games could be possible on the ATV4. Newer console games are pretty much impossible on the ATV4. It's not nearly powerful enough. I wish Apple could work out a deal with Nintendo to bring some older classics to the Apple TV.

  • Apple in 2019: Will a recession ruin its run?

China having a recession might just buy us another decade before the Chinese Military is ready to start a ruckus with the US and Japanese Navies.  So, here’s hoping for confusion to the Emperor of China!
China is still very far behind compared to the US Navy. Even the 44 ships they made between 2016-17 are still far less advanced than what the US Navy has. China has one soviet era aircraft carrier in service. The carriers the US Navy uses blow that out of the water. Another area where China really lags with its Navy is long range strike capabilities. It will take decades for China to get where the US Navy is now.
