  • You can now use Apple's Siri & HomeKit to control the $8000 Numi 2.0 'intelligent toilet'

“Hey Siri”, wipe my butt”. Now THERE’S a command to reckon with! LOL!

Or "Hey Siri, play my dump playlist."

I’m still waiting for Apple to explain why being a media company is a good idea. Needing to grow services revenue isn’t an answer. It’s an end result but not a reason unto itself.
Is Amazon making a bunch from their content? Probably not. Are they making any $$ from offering HBO or Starz channels? I doubt it, but have no idea.
I think it's nearly assured that Amazon is getting a cut of the HBO and Starz subscription, even if for a limited time, if it originates from their service. Same with Roku and YouTube TV.
Amazon is getting a cut from all the Prime Channels. They are actually making a nice profit for really not doing much. Revenue from Prime Channels was close to $2 billion in 2017. After giving HBO, Showtime, etc their cuts, I'm sure Amazon is still pocketing over half a billion.

  • Qualcomm could still win an iPhone ban in the US at the hands of the USITC

I don't have the solution, but sure wish there was an answer to all of this tech patent wild-west antics that have been going on for a couple of decades now.  I won't claim anyone as being a "patent troll", but the point of a patent is to protect ones invention or ideas in order to develop and profit from it.  It is NOT intended to be a "I thought of it first but don't do anything with it so now you have to constantly prove you aren't getting near it".  When we are to a point where a patent is limiting technology growth or stifling innovation because someone refuses to budge because they feel they can just have your entire product banned, we need reform.

I'm not saying strip patents from everyone, or anyone, but something has to be done.  What that something is...I have no idea.  just sick of hearing things like this, and yes I know Apple does it as well to others.  But I don't view Apple as someone with tons of patents and no plans to ever develop or use them.
I think one possible solution is to do something similar to what the FDA does with drug patents and generics. Say you create a patent and it gets approved. You have so many years to do something with that patent such as in licensing it to others or developing a product that uses that patent. If you do neither, you can't file a claim of copyright infringement after so many years have passed.

  • Qualcomm urging Chinese courts to extend sales ban to iPhone XS & XR

I guess I am a bit confused. These so called patents "relate to photo editing and managing apps with a touchscreen.". I just find it hard to believe that anyone other than apple would own rights to managing apps with a touchscreen. As for photo editing I just can't even recall Qualcomm ever being in that area.
It is a little weird. Apparently Qualcomm has patents related to resizing of images and something to do with navigation apps.

I don’t think Google modifies search results to lean left or right (as Trump claims). In fact, it would make more sense to show results consistent with what the specific user wants, not to force something on them that’s different from their views.

That said, I’m not convinced Google doesn’t alter results based on monetary issues (such as paid advertisers). Or lets results of their own products climb higher in the rankings than they normally would.
I actually believe Google is doing this. I've seen a ton of people testing the search results and more than 97% of the results are from liberal outlets when you Google things such as Trump news. I've tested this myself and saw the same results. There wasn't one conservative news source in the first few pages of results. Some mathematician published a report from about this and all his findings indicated Google is doing this. From Google firing James Damore, to the leaked e-mail where Google employees talk about burying conservative sites after Trump won the election, I think there is enough evidence that shows Google is more than likely manipulating its algorithm to favor left leaning sites.
Have you done the exact same searches with Bing and DDG and Yahoo to see how the results differ? That might be an idea.
Actually I have. I tried Bing and DDG and both had conservative sites in the search results unlike Google.
How about an example we can try for ourselves?
I was using the term "Trump news" when I tested this out. I tried this while reading an article about a week ago and I saw the same results as what was claimed in the article. I obviously don't have concrete evidence Google is doing this, but from what I've seen and what others have reported, I have come to the conclusion Google is in fact doing this.

So the top results if you use that search string right now? #1 from Fox News. 2 is  from CNBC, 3rd is ABC News and then followed by several Twitter links to Trump's account. No evidence of bias there IMHO.
Did you click on the news tab after you did your search? From my previous post when others tested this out, it was the results listed under the news tab. I tried it now and came up with same thing on main search and mostly all left leaning sites under the news tab.
