  • iPad sales may be dropping, but at a slower pace than rivals

iPads just last so long. I got third generation new, and sold to mother-in-law for 100 bucks in March 2016 when I got Air 2. Although I still use 2009 MBP and 2006 iMac, so I'm not exactly riding the crest of the tech wave (save in mobile).
That is true. I'm still using the original iPad Air although I will be upgrading to the new 12.9" Pro. I'm sure I'll get at least 5 years of use out of the new Pro I plan to purchase this month.

  • Apple News will get a real-time results hub for Nov. 6's US midterm elections

Apple should not do this, it will trigger people and we'll see all kinds of mass depression. People do not need to see instantaneous results.
Maybe Apple should include the Suicide Prevention Hotline number on every story page for those about to get another dose of reality.
That or a link to Kleenex's website.

American journalists? I think that is not a correct assumptions. He is not an American and probably hates America. Just my opinion.
Business is business, Tim have responsibilities to Apple stockholder....
    Based on what?

The guy had an American green card, and wrote for the Washington Post. It doesn't get much more "American journalist" than that.
    Green Card? This is inaccurate.
What's your agenda here? The O-1 versus EB-1 "green card" have the same legal protections. I apologize for generalizing the term. I have struck out my own imprecise language in my comments and corrected the specific term, but it doesn't change the protections one iota.
I'm going to disagree with you. He isn't remotely close to being an "American journalist." Sure, he has protections here while in the U.S. just as any other visitor, green card holder, etc, but overseas, that's a completely different story. Jamal Khashoggi's visa would have expired in less than 2 years. If he was in Paris for example and got arrested, the U.S. Consulate in France wouldn't be able to offer him any services because he's not an American citizen. It's just like what happened in Turkey. The reality is that has nothing to do with the U.S. Sure, he wrote for an American newspaper, but that doesn't make him an "American journalist." The guy is a Saudi journalist. Regardless of disagreeing with you, I don't think that takes anything away about what happened and how wrong I think it was what Saudi Arabia did to him.

  • Early iPhone XR reviews praise performance & battery life

If I still had my iPhone 7 I’d upgrade to the XR probably without hestitation. The whole talk about resolution and the XR not being 1080p is pointless—it’s nothing more than a semi-legitimate sounding complaint against Apple delivered simply for the sake of complaining about Apple. The most outstanding aspects of my XS display are the colour and blacks. The higher resolution is only an extremely small benefit.
Would you buy a TV that wasn't at least full hd in 2018? Of course you wouldn't, so why buy a phone at £750 that wasn't either? Why compromise with downscaled videos etc. ?
TV and phone completely different things. 720 on an LCD screen is perfectly fine. You didn't see people complaining about 720 on the iPhone 8. You wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between a 1080 and 720 video on your phone with an LCD display. Speaking of TV's, you do realize most channels are broadcast in 720p.

  • Apple & other tech giants may face EU universal minimum tax rate in the future

I don't think the EU is looking at this as global socialism, I think they're looking at it as a global dictatorship. Even with Ireland's existing laws, the EU is forcing a sovereign country to abide by the dictatorship called the EU. Most of the EU is failing economically so there's an obvious attempt at taxing whomever they can to try and shore up their failing economy. The crazy thing is the people are still buying lots of expensive goods so it's not always the people who are failing but the way the governments are operated that's failing.
That is a lot of bullshit for a single paragraph.
All institutions in the EU are either democratically elected or approved by a democratic elected parliament.   Where did you get the concept that the EU is a dictatorship? A democracy ithat takes actions that you disapprove, remains a democracy
Ireland has chosen to join the EU and was well aware of the anti-competition rules.
The economy in the EU is not failing, it has been growing. the last couple of years  The bad pupil in the EU is currently the UK because of the Brexit
The economy in the EU has not been growing the last couple of years. Growth has been falling since 2017. There wasn't any growth in 2016. With current projections, the economy in the EU will continue to fall into 2019. The UK is hardly the only "bad pupil" in the EU. Look at Spain, Greece, Italy, etc. It's bad all around.
