  • Notes of interest from Apple's Q2 2019 earnings report and conference call

$24 billion spent on share buyback.  I've gotta believe that retired around 140 million shares.
Apple's outstanding share count dropped by about 123 million from the end of the previous quarter. So it bought back at least that many shares.
    Thanks.

Just a measly 2.5% of the company.  The following quarters should buy 2% or more as long as the price stays low.
The price isn't going to stay low. Apple Services is only going to balloon and that will drive up the price per share--good for us shareholders.

  • Quicktime 7, Carbon, Ink, Apple's hardware RAID support predicted to be gone in macOS 10.1...

Painful ride ahead for those who don’t accept change well. I’ve been riding the Apple rollercoaster since 1982. The worst change for me was the move to Intel processors in Macs as I had bought into the RISC vs CISC propaganda and Intel was the enemy. But I got over it.
It's not about "accepting change," some things have no alternative; perhaps you could try being less arrogant occasionally. People have setups that require things like the hardware RAID, and may have spent a lot of money for such a system. There are plenty of places still using PPTP too, and "accepting change" means those people will no longer be able to connect to PPTP VPN servers, often company ones. This again just results in a worse experience for Mac users.
The arrogance is built into the surname, Krupps. Look up the Krupps Family of Arms. They gave us Hitler, WWI/WWII and so much more before they were completely dismantled as the world's largest arms creators. Whether it's a direct descendant or not the name wreaks of arrogance.

  • Apple contemplated buying parts of Intel's cellular modem business to speed up 5G

Apple should just buy all of Intel and get on with designing and building all of their chips.
They're better off buying AMD as an independent subsidiary.

  • New report claims Apple spending less on Amazon Web Services, not more

With so much high-quality sever space a its disposal, why does Apple content take so damn long to load? When I select the TV Shows or Movies app on my Apple TV, it typically takes 5-10 seconds to bring up my content, sometimes as much as 20-30 seconds. I then experience the same delay when I select a specific title. What gives? I have 600MB internet, and Netflix and Prime begin playing almost immediately, so the issue is clearly related to how Apple serves content.
Might want to ask the Satellite and Cable operators about that.

This is actually brilliant and technologically innovative. And yes, the applications are many.
