tvOS 17 feature roundup: FaceTime, karaoke, Zoom, VPN, and more
To whom it may concern: can you please allow TVos 17 to stream audio from your Mac greater than 48K? I understand Apple Music may not have the bandwidth to serve greater than 48K (though it does on the iPhone), but audio files from my Mac are arbitrarily limited to 48K on TVos, even through VLC. I have had blu-ray players and game consoles that will let me stream up to 192K in stereo, and 98K in multi-channel since 2011.Imagine only being able to view photos in limited resolution. Why do that to audio data? TVos only needs to pass the actual resolution of the audio files; even the downsampling it's doing now is an unnecessary step. Letting the Apple TV pass high resolution audio to a DAC, receiver, or audio processor would make the Apple TV a true audiophile component. -
Younger Apple customers may be the key to Apple Vision Pro's success
I guess I'm in the minority, but I think $3500 for the Vision Pro is cheap, considering all it does. Consider the cost of a high-end large screen 4K OLED - easily $2000 - $3500 or more. A quality surround sound system - > $1000 for the speakers alone, plus another $1000 for a *cheap* surround receiver! An M2 Mac with a 4K monitor, keyboard, trackpad... I don't even have to tell you. It even potentially replaces your Apple TV 4K. Put all that in a bag and you've long past the $3500 for the Vision Pro, and you can take the Vision Pro anywhere. Good luck moving all that other stuff around. That the battery pack is detachable is also a plus, enabling future capacity upgrades without buying a whole new headset. But the major thing I'm wary of is the "starting at $3499" part. I assume that means if you want the Vision Pro to run as smoothly as the demo you're going to have to pay Apple prices to upgrade the RAM, and probably the SSD storage also. And there may be an option to upgrade to the M2 Pro. So it may be a major investment to get the ideal Vision Pro setup, but I think it will still be a bargain compared to all the gear it replaces.I'm super impressed with the potential of the Vision Pro, especially for the price. -
Apple launches Apple Music Classical app
pscooter63 said:A dedicated TVOS app would be a nice tip of the hat - I don’t necessarily want to be tethered to AirPlay.
Either Apple needs to enable Apple TV to play hi-res above 48khz via a software update, or release a third Apple TV in 3 years for people who actually can hear the difference between 48khz and 98khz (i.e. people with a halfway decent sound system). -
Apple releases tvOS 15.5.1 & HomePod Software 15.5.1 with bug fixes

Lewis Hamilton hopes Apple TV+ documentary has a 'positive impact'
Nice to read all these posts from potential millionaires who would go against their accountants' and business managers' advice and pay full taxes because, you know, it's the right thing to do.Why hate on Lewis because he's doing what every other millionaire and billionaire in Britain does to protect their wealth. Maybe there's another reason for such vitriol? Surely it's not because he's the best F1 driver on the planet, and possibly ever. Hmmm, what could it be...
