  • New 15-inch MacBook Air sales are half the figure Apple expected

I wonder why 🧐? Maybe because M2 will soon be replaced with M3 and most people won’t get tricked to buy hardware this close to a possible new one.
I'd think it was more likely some other factor, since the folks who purchase machines that aren't designed for the most demanding tasks (video editing &c.) rarely know or care what the processor is called.

My guess, based on a sample size of one (my sister), is that most of the target market doesn't want a machine that weighs 0.6 lb. more and won't fit their existing sleeves, packs, &c., and simply don't need the larger display. Most of the market that needs a larger display needs it for serious photo or video editing, and are willing to spend the extra $ for a MacBook Pro. Net result, if true: Apple produced a very nice product for too small a slice of the potential market.

Any resemblance to the chaotic state of Apple products and markets immediately prior to the return of Mr. Jobs to the firm is purely coincidental (*cough*).

  • Trailer for Apple TV+ & Ridley Scott film 'Napoleon' shows the horror of war

Abel Gance directed the definitive film on Napoléon in 1927, without CGI but with multiple cameras and split screen views. Watch it, preferably with a live orchestra playing the score written for the 1980 re-release by Carmine Coppola, and decide for yourself which is the better film.

  • Jony Ive's latest gig is the seal for King Charles's space project

Should we ask Sir Jonny or King Chuck whether they think geocentrism is a reasonable representation for the universe, five hundred years after Copernicus.

  • Apple TV+ production of 'Metropolis' has shut down permanently

I was really looking forward to this one, but the strike is more important, without a doubt. Oh well. We can always hope they pick it up again in a few years.
I guess I must be a stick in the mud or just an old curmudgeon, but I feel that the original is such an awesome, original work of art that any reimagination would have a very steep path to being nearly as good, much less better.

Maybe Mr. Esmail can develop another original idea, like Mr. Robot, that will be as memorable as that series.

  • Apple accused of retribution in firing five union activists

Yeah, those Apple retail workers who start at $22/hour and already have a ton of benefits sure do need a union. They’re being treated so badly! Shame on your Apple for paying retail workers well above minimum wage and providing all those other benefits that most other retail jobs don’t. I go to the Apple store frequently and from what I can see, most of them get paid just to stand around and chat with each other.
I'm going to assume this post is from a bot that never tried to live on a minimum wage. Minimum wage is not a living wage, or even anywhere close to it. The lack of empathy for people who actually have to work for a living (even if, when the Store's not busy, they dare to speak to one another) bespeaks a robotic lack of concern for actual human beings.

AppleInsider should screen the comments for bot products.
