There was definitely something wrong with Phil, personally my take on it was that he was still really really really pissed off at the GM leak ruining the delightful surprises. As for the face ID, it's annoying that before going on stage that Craig didn't check it first seeing as it is the tentpole feature and it is obvious that any tiny fail would be jumped upon. Maybe everyone was still so angry about the leak that they just let it get to them. Even Cook seemed a bit weirded out at the end when he announced the 'one more thing' knowing full well that the surprise factor was gone. In fact whether I imagined this or not I don't know but it felt like the audience didn't know whether to act surprised or not. Having said that, it's all going to be moot because it looks like awesome technology that's going to leave all others eating dust.

Apple say they can only produce 10,000 iPhone X's a day so at that rate to make 170 million would take them a bit over 46 years!

The naming convention is cleverly subversive and will present Samsung with a problem. Samsung skipped the Note 6 and went from 5 to 7. Similarly Windows eschewed Windows 9 and went from 8 to 10. Apple have gone one better that both of those two, they have not only skipped 9 as well by going from 7 straight to 8 and X, but because X is pronounced 10 they will be able to leapfrog everyone and retire the 8 line of phone design completely and call all their next gen phones iPhone 11. Genius, can't wait to see what Samsung will do they'll have to go from Galaxy 8 to Galaxy 11 just to keep up.
