WWDC 2016 rumor roundup: What to expect at Apple's June 13 keynote
yeah, I'm actually hoping they don't release a Macbook at WWDC.. it would mean they wouldn't be using some of the new tech, like AMD's new 16nm GPU, or the possibility of jumping Skylake and going right to Kaby Lake, which is about to be released anyway in 2nd half of 2016. It might be why Apple has been sooo slow in going Skylake.
So, for once, YAY, no MBP at WWDC! lol -
Square pushes Apple Pay contactless reader with new $1/week installment plan
We're the only country without contactless cards. EU, Canada, hell, Mexico is going full tap-and-pay with cards. It's secure but noooo, we have to be 'different' - even though the card readers with ENV chip reader supports tap-and-pay, they refuse to enable it. For some reason dragging the financial processing market into the present day is like pulling teeth in the US of A. -
Updated Apple TV may form foundation of Siri-based Amazon Echo competitor - report
Depends; the article completely ignores a simple fact.
if Apple opens the SDK to where OEM's can make their own speakers(like they did with Airplay) and hook into the ATV similarly like one with AirPlay.. We could see Siri Enabled Speakers from many manufacturers that sends any Siri related requests to the ATV.
From this standpoint, that makes complete sense.. I mean.. Why develop your own speakers, with a CPU/APU, when you can allow OEM's to make various kinds and you just facilitate from an existing platform, the Apple TV.
This does a few things:- it add's value to the Apple TV giving them another leverage point in the Streaming TV arena.
- It lowers cost to get into the market by using existing platform.
- It gives OEM's a bone when it comes to making money from another accessory.
