  • Google's Pixel 2 XL priced higher than Apple's iPhone 8 Plus but is half as fast, lacks ma...

I'm an Apple guy but this 'feature' is just an exercise in angry Google bashing. Like something militant Android fanboys would publish about Apple. We're better than that...

  • Watch: HEIF vs. JPEG on iPhone 8 compared

So in conclusion Apple’s current implementation of HEIF sucks ass! I can’t believe how badly this has been implemented by Apple! This is beta foda. So all the advantages of shooting photos in HDR 10bit color are lost, because HEIF has inferior image quality to 8bit JPEG to begin with! Apple goes by the mantra that it doesn’t incorporate new technologies until they are properly refined and just work! Not in this case.

  • Apple not only company fighting Google over video, as YouTube is cut from Amazon Echo Show...

I'm getting sick of this f.....g duelling between the tech giants that's negatively effecting the user experience of customers. This VP9 debacle is crap! With Google more at fault in this case it seems. As H.264 is a global standard that's not specific to Apple, while VP9 is to Google. They should support it (H.264) at 4K like they do at 1080p and 1440p. Get over yourselves and stop screwing over users!

  • Amazon takes on Apple TV 4K with updated Fire TV featuring HDR, Dolby Atmos support

That design seems pretty poor. I hope it coms with some adhesive or Velcro so you can keep it from handling and putting pressure on your HDMI port.
Yes, the previous design's form factor was better IMO. This new one just seems messy! With that being exacerbated by the need for an additional adaptor for Ethernet. Overall then, a cost cutting step backwards design wise.

  • First look: Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular: stainless steel vs. aluminum

The square box on the aluminium Apple Watch is only for the sport loop (because it can't be put flat in the box... others Series 3 aluminium models come in a long box), and sadly they removed the fancy little plastic box for travel one the stainless steel one :-(
That's rather cheap of Apple! That was a useful well-made little box with a feel good factor for your purchase. I use mine to store straps. When Apple does this kind of thing, it bugs the hell out of me! Why do that? Its like on the iPhone 7,8 and X with iOS 11 they've dropped support for WAV and AIFF audio files...why do this? It costs them nothing to leave them in, while providing high quality audio playback for many users (like myself) who have a significant library of music encoded using those codecs in iTunes.
