  • Maxed-out Apple Silicon Mac Pro costs 1/4 what a maxed Intel one did

Doesn’t have very many upgrade options.
You can do quite a bit with 64 Gen 4.0 PCIe lanes, even if it doesn't support graphics cards.
You can’t add 1.5TB of ECC memory.
Are you in the market for that?
Great question. Wonder if you're ever going to a get an answer for this?
Not just a simple "yes" or "no" but actual use cases where 1.5 TB of RAM are really necessary.

  • 'Apple Glasses' reportedly launching in 2026 or 2027 at the earliest

Wasn’t it as recently as a year ago that “Apple car” rumors were hitting these pages with headlines like “to be released in 2023 or 2024”?
This rumor sounds a bit like this. Predict something far off into the future and if it doesn’t pan out, then hopefully everyone has forgotten about it by then.

  • Apple's mixed reality headset could be what the entire AR/VR market needs to succeed

    palegolas said:
Knowing the demand etc. is all very business oriented. And of course it's important in order to make a successful launch. However I think the much bigger elephant in the room question is whether there's actually a healthy future for AR/VR at all? Or is there only a dystopian future when a huge portion of people eventually much rather would like to stay in VR and live in the matrix than to take it off, and that's the world we'll be living in. Whether Apple wants it or not, I think they're going to make a compelling presentation, which unfortunately will lead to the latter.
If current society is an indicator of things to come with AR/VR, then I predict we go deeper into the Matrix.
If distracted driving/cycling/walking was not already a problem, then it will definitely turn into one with one of these on your head.
Technology often finds complex solutions to problems that already have simple solutions available.
    Example:
Tech: Let's blindfold people so they can immerse themselves in some better alternate reality.
Question: What if people need to walk over to somewhere else for hydration or nourishment?
Tech: Let's add on some miniature camera tech to the blindfold and offer it to the public as an add on for an extra $300. $500 if you want 4K.

Ordinary person question: How about we don't blindfold people?
Tech crowd:  Get lost looser/boomer/old fart!!!!

  • Apple's iPad is still showing the world how to do tablets, 15 years later

What so many pundits fail to understand is that the iPad does not need to turn into a mini Mac in order for it to be useful to millions of customers. It’s the computing device that so many turn to on a daily basis for ordinary things like banking, getting recipes, how to videos and so many of the day to day mundane tasks that ordinary people do in their daily lives.
What MS did with the Surface version 2 (version 1 was that greater than $10000 table top), is slap Windows on it, ie. what it’s always done.

The “It’s a toy, I want to do real work” crowd is nothing more than a minority in an echo chamber. The iPad has achieved its stated objective, Steve’s original vision of, “computing for the rest of us”.

  • Apple Music Classical's best feature is lost on Apple's headphones

Most Audiophiles who care about these things will not be listening through your common run of the mill, Airpods or Sonys or Bose headphones.

They’re more likely to go with
    Focal Bathys: $799
    B&W PX8: $699
    Mark Levinson 5909: $999

And the above three are just the wireless “but can also do wired”, options.
When you start getting into the wired options, then all of the above prices look like bargain basement.
