How Apple captured Generation Z, and how it will hang on to them
dewme said:The “Gen Z” thing bothers me because it seems to signify the “last” generation, as if some cataclysmic event will stop further generations from existing. Maybe it will rollover back to “Generation A” or do we move to multiple characters? Gen Z Rev 1? Who makes this crap up?
Humans are tribal by design. Younger people live much of their lives through their smartphones so it is completely understandable that something that’s differentiated within the overlapping spheres of different people’s lives would be used as a basis for tribal selection. Completely predictable human behavior and totally irrational all at the same time, in other words, exactly as we should expect it to be.While judging people based on their choice of smartphone is ridiculous, there’s another divide happening between North American and European/Middle Eastern/North African users. They seem to be obsessed with “WhatsApp”. I have family in both France and Greece and they’re constantly trying to get me into that Meta controlled spyware app. -
Intel has a faster processor than M2 Max, but at what cost?
One thing that is not being discussed here is that there's no way that Intel i9 alone can compete with the M2Pro or even worse the M2Max.
The laptop in question is being boosted by the Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card.
You want a chip for chip comparison? Pit the Intel i9 (with its internal graphics) vs M2Max. Then not even 1.5 Gigawatts would be enough to catch up to the M2Max.

Meta is slowly recovering, but still 'at the whim of Apple' says exec
I recently requested that Facebook deletes my account.I had it suspended for years, keeping it only for Messenger because of family but now have deleted completely.
I was ticked off recently finding out that my grocery store was handing over data to Meta every time I used the option, send me the bill via e-mail, which was linked to their points card.Needless to say that I don't use that option any longer but point is be wary of hidden agreements like this. Companies like Google and Meta and Amazon have their tentacles everywhere. Personally I don't think they need to know when I buy bread or eggs. -
Apple's iPhone hardware subscription could arrive by March

I'll keep doing it right, I'll buy a phone and own it.Or to those that really want to have the latest and greatest every 1-2 years. In the end you have to calculate how much do you pay for your phone and how long you keep it on average.
Modern sharecropping……. A dead wrong idea as a society we should be encouraging a more frugal approach to money, personal finance education obviously is a shortcoming not just in America, but it appears the world.
This is a tech forum discussing tech stuff and tech moves quite quickly more often than not.No one is encouraging anyone. We’ll have to see what the terms and conditions of this is and make a decision for ourselves. If people buy stuff they can’t afford, it’s on them. -
