  • Rudy Giuliani says warrant illegal since agents already had data 'from the iCloud'

FBI was told ahead of time to dig into Rudy Giuliani stuff but to leave Hunter Biden's stuff alone!  FBI and Justice Department not interested in investigating Hunter Biden, only Giuliani and Trump matters.
    Oh boy! Here we go.

  • Magic Keyboard won't 'precisely fit' new 12.9-inch iPad Pro but still works, says Apple

There are a lot of doozies in that thread but the one below has to be one of my favourites.

This is wrong, just flat out wrong. Making the tablet thicker is no reason to make my MK incompatible. Now I gotta sell my 2020 model and MK and buy a tab S8 plus because Sammy would never do us like this.

  • Apple posts record $89.6B in Q2 revenue on back of across-the-board growth

What surprises me from the revenues chart is that the wearables/home category has surpassed the Mac.
We already knew that services was a fast growing category, but wearables/home?
I wonder what the breakdown would be within that category. My guess
    1) Apple Watch by far
    2) AirPods
    3) HomePods
    4) AppleTV

  • Apple's 'M2' processor enters mass production for MacBook Pro

Found this little tidbit on the Daring Fireball site this morning.  I think it definitely applies to a thread like this one.

    RIDE OUT THE STORM

From chapter 87 of Basecamp’s book Getting Real:

When you rock the boat, there will be waves. After you introduce a new feature, change a policy, or remove something, knee-jerk reactions, often negative, will pour in.

Resist the urge to panic or rapidly change things in response. Passions flare in the beginning. But if you ride out this initial 24-48 hour period, things will usually settle down. Most people respond before they’ve really dug in and used whatever you’ve added (or gotten along with what you’ve removed). So sit back, take it all in, and don’t make a move until some time has passed. Then you’ll be able to offer a more reasoned response.

For all those defending the "Everything Glued together & soldered together" assembly of the MacBooks by saying "Nobody ever upgraded a computer", Andrew just called bull!

His biggest (only?) complaint about his M1 MacBook Air is that it can't meet his needs because it is frozen in time with what it came with when he bought it -- versus his MacPro which grew and developed with enhancements as his needs, wants and requirements grew.

Likewise, my 9 year old i7 Thinkpad runs perfectly well and meets all of my needs -- because it's been upgraded to a 500Gb SSD, 16Gb Ram and an internal harddrive used for ongoing, real time backups.  Without those cheap and very simple to install (5 minutes or less) upgrades the machine would have been scrap
Statements such as this remind me of my now deceased father who used to long for the days of when he could service his car himself.
I sometimes wonder what he would say seeing today's Teslas or Priuses.

Either way, all technology will move towards this way of doing things with ARM architecture taking up more space. Apple is just ahead of the curve on this.

I don't see the logic behind equating an inability to service or upgrade something as synonymous with better products.
    Not what I said.
It's just that if you don't see it now, the writing is on the wall for x86 chips.
The whole industry will be going towards ARM architecture system on a chip with integrated RAM, powerful enough integrated graphics engine, neural engines etc.
The days of popping open the lid and adding your own RAM are gone.

Apple is ahead of the curve in that respect.
