Bill Gates cautions Apple and other tech companies about arrogance inviting government int...
lkrupp said:I agree with Mr. Gates. The strident caterwauling about privacy and government snooping by anonymous commenters on websites like this one is hilarious. If the FBI showed up at your doorstep you’d piss your pants and cry like a baby. You most certainly would not meet them at the door with your gun. If you pull on the dragon’s tail once to often you’re going to get burned. It is entirely possible that democratic governments will legislate access to encrypted data at some point. Better to be calm and quiet about it while demanding your privacy than to start a confrontation. Face it, people no longer control their governments, democratic or otherwise.
The only thing that AI posters agree on is that end to end encryption of services like iMessage are necessary to prevent not just government but anybody who'd have an interest in getting hold of your data. It comes down to everyone's right to privacy. -
Heads of US law & spy agencies say phones by Apple rival Huawei pose inherent national sec...
tzeshan said:Exaggerating security risk is an ideology propaganda. First of all, what kind of risk China poses on US citizens? The spy agencies must first define the risks before they can deduce anything and arrive on any consequence. To be honest there are many people in the US pose more severe risk to American citizens. The US government and spy agencies chose to ignore this more severe risk. We do have many police in the name of protecting citizens. The truth is the police are dispatched only after people have been murdered.
This is nothing more than political posturing disguised as security risks for the average American citizen.
It's also quite funny to see FBI in there who not so long ago were asking Apple to build a back door into their OS for "just one phone". -

Wall Street expects Apple to report best quarter ever, but all eyes will be on March guida...
Soli said:Rayz2016 said:rogifan_new said:Of course. And if March was predicted to be a record quarter then all eyes (read: pessimism) would be on June. Every time Apple has a good quarter and the stock does nothing people say it’s not about the past but the future. Because with Apple the future can never be as good or better than the past. Wall Street is constantly assuming doom is around the quarter. And Apple leadership have done squat to change that narrative. All the stock buybacks in the world and Apple’s PE is still pathetic and the stock way more volatile compared to its tech peers. One sketchy supply chain rumor from Asia and the stock drops 2%. Disgusting. And a perfect example is Facebook. They admitted engagement is down because of the changes they made to the newsfeed yet the stock is up 4% today. If that was Apple the stock would be tanking today.
Three or four examples will suffice. -
Apple's 8 years of iPad: a revolution in iOS computing

I'm glad that you and your segment is happy with the current state of the iPad. For many others, most others, it doesn't meet their needs. They need a laptop. Apple can satisfy both without taking anything away from either.... It's not either/or...
Why? They already have the Macbook in the lineup. If you think the iPad does not meet your needs enough but still want lightweight, then Macbook is the way to go.
