  • Matte black iPhone 7 owners complain to Apple about chipping paint finish

Unless this is a problem with certain (a very small number) phones I can say that the anodization on this iPhone is more durable than the one on the black iPhone 5.
I have three different iPhone cases that I rotate on occasion and I even sometimes carry it without one and it's been rock solid. Of course I haven't dropped it and don't run my finger nails on it.

I know people with iPhones who have cases on them and they still get scratches on them. Of course the catch is that they are constantly playing with the case, like a nervous tick, removing it and putting it back on constantly.
Rub a metal surface often and long enough, and wear and tear will  eventually show up.

  • Fire breaks out at Samsung factory responsible for Note 7 battery production

Laugh all you want to but the Note 8 will be heralded as the second coming of Jesus Christ and Apple will be doomed once again. There’s even an article on C|net by a Samsung sycophant tech writer claiming the Note 7 disaster will actually make people MORE likely to buy the Note 8 because he trusts Samsung’s self-preservation instincts. He claims Samsung’s openness and sincerity about the problem and its declaration that it will never happen again is more than enough to convince people that Samsung is still trustworthy. I kid you not.
Yeah I saw that too and btw the idiot's name is Sean Hollister. He's living in La-La Land this guy.
But what does make sense is that a few million tools will probably go out and buy the Note 8. Not because of some belief in Samsung's self preservation but because of shorter attention spans than teenagers on Snapchat.

The mess that apple has made of their iPad lineup is emblematic of the organization's disarray. Apple air 1, air 2, gimme a break. Steve would not have put up with that mess. I'm going to buy a $90 kindle fire while you guys figure your shit out.
I think you forgot what Steve did to the iPod lineup....pretty much the same thing. And besides...who gives a shit what Steve would have done. He's not here so what difference does it make now? Why do people keep bringing up what Steve would have done? You don't have a clue and it doesn't matter!
Might as well add that the people who were handpicked by him and worked closely with him for years, have no idea what he would've done, but some random internet person hiding behind an alias does.

Another reason to not install Flash. Come on Adobe, you know your software is the (current) largest method of spreading malware. Do something about like shutting it down.
Or if you must install flash, go directly to adobe.com and do it from there.

  • Apple Pay now accepted by 36% of US merchants, is most common mobile payment platform

I am finding most places accept Apple Pay here in Canada, but then chip cards have been around for a long time. My issue is the $100.- limit. Why not $500.-?
This probably has to do with theft of chip enabled debit and credit cards. If a thief gets hold of your wallet can you imagine the field day he'd have if the limit was $500?
However I do agree with you that $100 is low since most of the time just doing the groceries will set you back >$100.

If they can figure out a way to differentiate mobile contactless from card contactless and give the former a higher limit, I'm all in.
