  • Apple One bundles launching October 30, Fitness+ 'this quarter'

I have the Apple+, CBS All Access, Showtime combo package.  Will I lose that if I sign up for Apple One?
The CBS / Showtime combo isn't part of Apple TV+ exactly, so you should still get that for $9.99 / month plus the cost of your Apple One membership.

  • AirPods share of market shrinks to one-third, down from nearly half in 2019

I haven’t fled to a different manufacturer - nor would I - but I’ve cooled considerably on AirPods.  A little over two years in, and one of them only lasts 15 minutes per charge now, the other one 20. I can’t make it through a daily standup without having to swap out single pods at a time, and juggle them in the charger in case the meeting runs long

As I was raised to be frugal, I’m just not seeing great bang for the buck in my particular use case (working from home, thanks COVID).  I’ve stepped back to my original wired set for now (for ambient noise rejection).  Honestly the wire is less of a hassle.
Couldn’t agree more. My AirPods became nearly useless after a little over a year of use. At the same price point there are now much higher quality true wireless earbuds. I ended up replacing my AirPods with Sennheiser’s MTW2.  Along with much better sound quality, I find the smart tap controls to be a lot more useful than the AirPods, too.  I have heard that B&O, Master & Dynamic, and Sony’s options also sound great at about the same price point.

  • Apple services & Apple Card 'too late to the game,' HSBC downgrades stock

Apple was pretty late to the game when they introduced the iPhone, too.

  • Sprint and T-Mobile agree to all-stock merger deal worth $26 billion

How can a Sprint (CDMA) customer use T-Mobile’s (GSM) network?
The TMO iPhone models support the 3 Sprint LTE bands (25, 26, and 41).  LTE is a shared technology, unlike GSM vs CDMA, so as long as a device supports the LTE bands, it should work regardless of the legacy technology base the carrier built out from.

That being said, Sprint still uses CDMA as their voice side backbone.  (Disclaimer: I worked on the GSM side of the industry, so my CDMA knowledge is a bit limited).  After the merger they will likely phase out CDMA, use VoLTE anywhere that has LTE coverage, and move Sprint over to GSM fallback (i.e. HSPA / 3G).  In the meantime, there is no reason why TMO customers wouldn't get expanded LTE data coverage, and Sprint customers should have access to TMO's LTE network as well.  It will take several years for the network to work as a seamless single network, but all customers should benefit pretty quickly after (if) the merger is finalized.

  • Pixar head John Lasseter takes leave of absence amid sexual misconduct allegations

I rarely send my two cents out into the internet on these types of hot-button political issues (why aren't comments closed on this post, btw?) because the internet is full of trolls, but at any rate, here is mine. There is no war on men, especially white men. Just because we (white men) can't just take whatever we want anymore, doesn't mean the world is suddenly conspiring to get us. Glad to see most folks commenting here are living in a post 1950's world, where women get to be people, too. I think that even just ten years ago, most people posting on this article would have been making those "guilty first" statements like Cali did. Makes me think the world is getting to be a better place to live, even if it doesn't always feel like it is.
